Requesting to show google map or Wikimapia links directly.

    Example: Test
This is a clickable link of a map location but better would be to show the map directly.

This feature would help people to find locations easier.

You can also simply copy the coordinates and send to people by pasting into (using the Google Maps of your Language choice) eg: 9.3061481,123.3076945 to give an exact location, such as if you were informing them where you live so that they could come to your house.

    Test (Google regular link)
    Google Maps
    :wtf:

    Test (Google embed link)

Not ready. This is not user friendly.

Edit: and can't be due to Google Map's link structure.

The second test shows that it is possible to embed a map but the process is a bit of a hassle and I suspect regular users won't go through the trouble of finding the proper link.

I won't even bother typing out the steps to do this. If you know where to find their "embed" code (and pull the link from the rest of html code) then you just have to post that link to your post and it will embed the map.

    The code looks like this:
    Code:
    <iframe src="https://www.google.com/maps/embed?pb=!1m14!1m12!1m3!1d62999.68299701137!2d123.26282483359581!3d9.290649644779936!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!5e0!3m2!1sen!2s!4v1500879731425" width="600" height="450" frameborder="0" style="border:0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
What you need from that mess is:
    Code:
    https://www.google.com/maps/embed?pb=!1m14!1m12!1m3!1d62999.68299701137!2d123.26282483359581!3d9.290649644779936!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!5e0!3m2!1sen!2s!4v1500879731425
I couldn't figure out how to embed the Wikimapia maps. If you throw "Wikimapia Xenforo" into Google this thread is the 6th result...so not much info out there on working this into the forum. I'm sure it is possible, and not all that difficult, but I don't have the skill set required (I lack the PHP coding skills needed) to implement.

Bing Maps.....I have no f'n idea what they are doing with their embedding and link structures. Not even going to try working that one out.

How things like YouTube videos get embedded automatically is quite complex (for my brain anyways) and I didn't personally write the code. I understand why and what they are doing with the code but not how it works. Complete gibberish to me:
    Code:
    !youtube\.com/(?:watch.*?v=|v/|attribution_link.*?v%3D)(?P<id>[-\w]+)!
    !youtu\.be/(?P<id>[-\w]+)!
    !(?P<id>)(?=.*?[./]youtu(?>\.be|be\.com)[:/]).*?[#&?]t=(?:(?:(?P<h>\d+)h)?(?P<m>\d+)m(?P<s>\d+)|(?P<t>\d+))!
    !(?P<id>)(?=.*?[./]youtu(?>\.be|be\.com)[:/]).*?&list=(?P<list>[-\w]+)!
    !(?P<id>)(?=.*?[./]youtu(?>\.be|be\.com)[:/]).*?/shared\?ci=!
That's how you deal with the pesky link structure differences I ran across with Google Maps. This is not something I can copy/paste and tweak the links/code to make it work for what I need it to (like I do with most "custom" code on the forum).

Edit: The guy who made the gibberish code above has had Google Maps requested to be supported several times. He says:
    gmaps.PNG

Not a snowball's chance in hell I would be able to get it working.

TLDR: Embedded maps are currently out of stock, sir.

Try to request this feature at Xenoforo directly. Wondering what they say.

The feature was suggested...and turned down due to a lack of interest. No similar feature currently exits in the software. Keeping it updated with Google's API and pushing out updates would be more work for them than what it is worth. There are also limitations on how many maps can be loaded per site per day by Google. You have to start paying Google money if you go over that number of loads.

I am waiting on a reply from a developer on the issue.

Then the only solution is the way I used in the starting post.
