Provincial Government of Negros Oriental 19m · #FYI HIGHLIGHTS of Governor Roel Degamo's press conference earlier today: -- Governor Degamo recommends the imposition of granular lockdowns or the zoning containment strategy to barangays with high number of COVID-19 positive cases in Dumaguete City; as per National IATF guidelines, only Local Chief Executives have the authority to implement zoning containment areas (granular lockdowns) in their localities -- The governor issued an order to the different district hospitals in the province located in Bayawan City, Siaton, Bais, Bindoy, Guihulngan, and Canlaon City to accept mild and moderate cases of COVID-19 as they are already equipped with oxygen (regulators) as well as they have increased the number of isolation beds -- Only severe COVID-19 positive cases will be referred to hospitals in Dumaguete City -- Regarding the "ayuda" or assistance to families who will be affected by granular lockdowns, Governor Degamo said that the provincial government already has a standby "ayuda" and will work with the Dumaguete City Government to ensure that all the needs of those under granular lockdown will be ironed out -- The PIATF's earlier recommendation has been to slow down the movement of the people especially those coming in the City as embodied under EO16, s. 2021, is for the Dumaguete City IATF to formulate measures in order to regulate the entry of people to the City -- Regarding the changing of the quarantine classification, we will wait for the order from the National IATF -- The Dumaguete Sangguniang Panlungsod resolution requesting for a change to a stricter quarantine qualification was addressed to the Dumaguete City IATF and copy furnished to the Provincial IATF. The Provincial IATF will wait for the resolution/recommendations from the City IATF and will act accordingly -- On the new requirement of Cebu Province to present a negative RT-PCR result upon entry to their province, Governor Degamo said he will not encroach on the wisdom and respects the decision of Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia. He further requests the people not to travel if it is not essential and if it is, to bring a negative RT-PCR result with them -- Governor Degamo recommends granular lockdowns only on barangays with high number of COVID-19 positive cases and not a total lockdown of the whole Negros Oriental -- Dr. Liland Estaction disclosed that the Medical Scholars of the Provincial Government are currently helping [for three weeks now] with the swabbing of the first level contacts of positive cases in Barangay Batinguel, however, it is the City Health Office who assigns from which barangay are the first level contacts that are scheduled for swabbing in a specific day -- The Emergency Operation Center (EOC) is currently located at the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO)and is open and working 24/7 -- Governor Degamo said we need about a million doses to achieve herd immunity or go to the new normal as the province has a population of about 1.5 million people -- Governor Degamo has already requested for additional vaccine allocation for the province from the National IATF last week and hope that the request will be approved the soonest -- Lastly, Governor Degamo appeals to all the people of the province of Negros Oriental who has a big role in containing the virus to cooperate and follow the protocols or guidelines set by the National, Provincial and Local IATFs in order to contain the spread of the virus. #FollowHealthProtocols #KeepSafeNegOr #DefeatCovid19
