Just imagining taking my wife to dinner tonight at Hong Kong's Morton's Steakhouse, one of my old favorites. The splendour would go something like this.
Start at the bar where I would have a Grey Goose Martini, shaken, with two olives. My wife would have a glass of Domaine Chandon Brut Champagne. We would each have a Maine Lobster Cocktail in the bar.
Then seated I would order a bottle of the Brut champagne to go with our starters which would be ½ Dozen Oysters on the Half Shell for me and Broiled Sea Scallops for her. I would go for the Beefsteak Tomato and she orders the Lobster Bisque.
I splurge (can't resist) and order a 2007 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon.
For the main course I go for the Center Cut Prime Ribeye Steak and my wife orders the Honey-Chili Glazed Salmon Fillet. We share our sides which are Grilled Jumbo Asparagus, Sauteed Spinish & Button Mushrooms, and Sour Cream Mash Potatos.
Dessert is their Souffle for Two and a Bailey's Irish Cream for each.
We then go to the Cigar Room and I select one of their recommended Cuban's. (I don't actually smoke but it sounds complete with it). And we each have a nice Hennessy Ellipse Cognac - I have two.
The Rolls Royce from the Peninsula Hotel is waiting for us. I hope I don't fall asleep too soon from the booze...
