I have been reading the rough guide to the Philippines. It brought a question to mind. First off, we have no problem trying to learn the local language, but reading this book made me wonder about groceries. Will I see chicken or manok when I go to the store?

On a side note, it has been very interesting to see that alot of the words we already know just from the Spanish we have learned here, are the same there just spelled a little different.

Hi Kianna, kumosta (visayan word for "how are you")(como esta)! Nice to hear you have no problem learning the v. dialect. I've heard that if you speak Spanish you have no problems learning visayan, as there are many words in our dialect very similar to Spanish even when conversing. But I must admit Spanish is quite difficult to learn (in my humble opinion).

Oh yeah (I don't mean to drag you down and forget your query), you can see a lot of manok in many grocery stores, and also in the market. In grocery stores, they only have frozen chickens. If you want fresh you can go to the market. Good luck Kianna! Hasta la vista!
