Thought this may be of use all round BY RENE GENOVE The Dumaguete City Traffic Management Office issued a traffic advisory for the temporary closure of several city streets for some special events of the 2014 Buglasan Festival of Festivals in the city. TMO chief Danilo Atillo said in a press release that two of the major events of the festival, the street dance parade and the fireworks competition, will be held on the roads of Dumaguete. Road closure will be implemented October 24 along Hibbard Avenue, Perdices Street, Silliman Avenue and North National Highway, starting 1 p.m. until the parade ends. TMO said Cervantes Street, portion of Rizal Boulevard, and Real Street are the suggested alternative routes. For vehicles going west, drivers can pass by Larena Drive, Miciano Road or Locsin Street. For the fireworks competition on October 25-26, the roads along Rizal Boulevard, like corner of Flores Avenue welcome area, and Colon Street up to Sta. Catalina Street will be temporarily closed. Although the competition starts at 9 p.m. these roads will be temporarily closed to vehicles from 6 p.m. until the competition ends, the press release added.*RG

hmmmmmmmmm So, no money to spend at the Festival. not exactly the place to Put this I know but the Festival was used as an excuse for a Further delay in payments. An Honest days pay for an Honest days work does not seem to work here. IN DUMAGUETE Appointments of 458 casual plantilla workers approved BY JUANCHO GALLARDE Casual plantilla workers of Dumaguete City have not received their salaries since the last pay day on October 15 because of non-accreditation by the Civil Service Commission. Dumaguete City Human Resource officer, Ruperto Tenorio Jr., said his office received only yesterday the approved appointments of more than 458 casual plantilla workers and processing of their salaries is being fast-tracked. The delay was allegedly due to the processing of documents for the renewal of their three-month contracts, while some failed to submit complete documents like the mayor’s appointment, personal data sheets, certifications of availability of funds and proof of essentiability. Tenorio denied insinuations that his office is sitting on its job, and said all requirements have been complied with. Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria confirmed that he had just signed checks for the salaries of casual plantilla employees and job orders. Reports said their salaries will be paid on Monday, because October 24 is a non-working holiday in Dumaguete and Negros Oriental due to the Buglasan Festivities.*JG JP
