I've been lurking here and want to thank you all for the excellent info about Dumaguete. I'm a new zealander who first visited Dumaguete in the early 80's, fell for a local girl and got married there in 1986. I'm pleased to say that our marriage is still going strong and we are working here in Perth trying to finance the lifestyles of our 2 aussie kids ages 16 & 13.

We will be visiting our other home town of Sibulan in 2008 and we are keen to visit Palawan. What's the best way to get there from Dumaguete ? We try to avoid Manila if possible.

    Cheers and thanks

    Regards from

    Kevin and Lita

Hi, there are three flights a week from Cebu to Puerto Princessa. (Air Philippines) or you can fly from here to Manila nad than to Puerto Princessa and several Ferries going there too...

Welcome to DumagueteInfo... I hope yo enjoy the board

Hi Kevin and lita, welcom on board

if you wish to avoid Manila, then you can re-route your travel to Cebu city but there is no direct flight yet from Cebu to Dgte, so you have to be on BUS, Boat/ferry or Fastcraft to be here in Dgte in which it would take some time and uneasy hauling you luggages

while if you use manila as a transient area, you can have direct acces of two or three carrier flights(cebu pacific, AIrphil and Pal airlines ) which is quicker and more convenient and comfortable.

    hope other members can add

    cheers

Its nice knowing in this forum someone is from Sibulan which will be our place soon. Hope we could meet up one day with the whole family.

We never liked stopping over in Manila, so we decided to travel from London to Cebu and find it so easy and comfortable. As we were met by my brother who he had a vehicle with him, travelling from Cebu to Dumaguete was quite pleasant and enjoyable and we will do it again.

Welcome to Dumaguete Info Forum Loftyone.

Thanks for the welcome and the information. Great to know about the flights from Cebu to Palawan.

We also travel via Cebu in preference to Manila. Are you moving to Sibulan permanently chrissar ?

Yes, we will loftyone. Hopefully next year.... We fell in love with the place straight away. The view is fab and there is something in Dumaguete that has its magic and another bonus is the neighborhood we will have. Its peaceful and quiet and if you want to have a nitelife, the buzzling city is just a few minutes drive.

Yeah Sibulan is nice. Very relaxed friendly people and when I walk around I feel like I'm related to about 10% of the locals. We will surely end up retired there once we get the kids through school.

It's great to read about twin lakes on the forum. My brothers in law always stopped me from going there claiming some unfriendly NPA lived in the area. Seems really safe these days so I'm looking forward to checking it out. I think it is very close to Sibulan.
