Happy New Year everyone. Just found this site today. I'm from the U.S. and my wife is from Dumaguete and both of us live and work here in Qatar. I spent three weeks in Dumaguete in June of '05. We had our wedding there at the South Seas resort. We will be moving there at some point down the road, just not sure when yet. I wish this site was around back then as it contains alot of great info and it was hard for me to find stuff about the area. My mother and sister went there from the States for our wedding and it was hard to find info for them to check out. Anyway, great work and hope to get to know some of you and maybe when I go back get to meet you.

Ahh, the memories of South Seas. Even after the dozens of times we rode to and from the place, I still got lost in the maze of roads that led back to it. It is a unique place...nice, quiet oceanside location beaneath a canopy of beautiful trees, yet just minutes from shops and restaurants in downtown.

Can't beat the $30 USD per night for rooms that size, either. Well, at least those were the rates when I was there in spring of 2005. Next time, though, I think I need to be a tad more adventurous and not eat nearly all of my meals at the cafe. I know I needed to sample a larger selection and experience more native cuisine. However, the South Seas cafe was just too convenient, the food was good (especially the mango shakes...oh, the best ever), and the waitresses made us feel like the guests of honor. Besides, it was easy to just add the cost of the meals to the hotel bill...until, of course, I got the final bill when I checked out

Yes the mango shakes there are really good. And I agree that the staff there is great too.

The South Seas resort is great and adventurous to get to. My friend stayed there. It was great to sip a cold beer while in the swimming pool and staring at the gorgeous ocean so close by. I especially enjoyed eating in their restaurant close to the beach to watch the incredible sunset. I felt VERY SPOILED!
