I know the helmet law has been discussed a lot here, but does anyone know if/when actual enforcement will start within Dumaguete City limits? I had heard October, but see no signs of it.

When you do see signs of it, that will be the 1st sign! :D

I, and I'm sure many others, have been stopped at checkpoints this month on a bike with no helment, and the PNPs made no mention of a helmet. There are some earlier threads and discussion points on this topic with many doubts expressed about how successful an implementation of that law could possibly be in Dgte... Still, I see Handyman and other stores who never carried helmets in stock are now building an inventory. Personally, I think it will be a real goat rodeo if they try and push it here.

If this law will be implemented when the roadproject between Dumaguete and Bacong is finish, you still have a lot of time to find out.
    Years!!!!!!

I was stopped in Sibulan byt he TMG at a checkpoint about a month ago and given a ticket for not wearing a helmet. I paid the 50P fine and they issued me a receipt on the spot and told me the receipt was valid for 7 days.

I've seen the Highway Patrol Group set up outside Robinsons 3 times in the past 3 weeks now and while I was not stopped, many motorbikes were and they too had ticket books out but again, i don't know what the citations were.

    Not dgte!

 Sibulan has always been in the helmet law. it was one of the First to implement the law so always beware. It is only DGTE that have opposed it and got away with it so far.

Sibulan has the Helmet law since years in place, with 50 Peso you got away pretty cheap. They got me there a few years back for 250.

Anyway, the Helmet law is in place since years nationwide. In many Barangays in Manila and AC is actually a local regulation that it is forbidden to wear Helmets

Then it is time for you to visit your place in Bacong again and to see what has still to be done. 1km at 1 side of the road won't take years.
Even not in the Philippines and even not in Dumaguete.
This year end is a fair estimation as I have said earlier on another thread.

I was at the smoke test last week. tens and tens of motorbikes and their owners/drivers.
I looked around and could not see ONE driver with a helmet (also not hanging at their bikes ).
I have seen also checkpoints ........and wondered why no driver had a helmet.
But MAYBE they all got a penalty ticket (are you kidding they got :D:D:D ?)

Seriously, can a helmet law REALLY be implemented successfully in Dgte, given the local income level vs helmet costs? Other concerns:
How can a local bik rider still talk on a cell phone?
Will a family of 7 still be able to fit if wearing helmets?
Will a helmet fit a pig?
Will the PNP start wearing them?
Will pedicab passengers have to wear helmets?
Will accidents be caused from local riders spitting into their helmet face shields?
Will chain smokers be able to reload fast enough?
Pedicab drivers don’t look where they are going or turning now.....
