Hello to all, an intersting and friendly site from a little I have seen.
Me? I came for a visit from the Great White North. Canada that is. Wandered around up north in Luzon, then Cebu. Was staying at Panagsama Beach, near Moal Boal being a would be dive bum, but had an inner ear infection at the time that kept me high and dry. Well not dry, San Mig, and occasional Tequila shots in the evening. Panagsama has these modest little seaside reastaurants on stilts at the waterfront. As I would sit there looking south West sipping my drink and waiting for the Maya Maya I had picked to be grilled, I wondered aloud to he waitress. Hey whats over there? Pointing to Negros Oriental Negros.
She replied with pride, That where my place is. She went on to say it is a place of agriculture, farmers, mountains, and volcanos. Very green, she added. Well, I used to be a farmer once, I lived in he mountains as well. Never saw a volcano, so three good reasons to visit I surmised.

Having planned to return to Cebu in a couple weeks to look up some friends, I decided to ferry over to Negros for maybe a week, two at most. That was a year and a half ago. I had queried the waitress about cities to visit. She was from Dumaguete. So, after doing a little Internet research on lodging I meandered over.

What is it about this place? not sure but I now feel compeled to defend it in the face of critcs, and call it home. Found a good girl, finally got away fom the Boulevard scene, not that it is so bad, but I prefer... well thats another thread.
My wife has a small bussiness that keeps both of us busy, but certainly not rich. a little combination sari sari, eatery, karaoke, drinking establishment. You know the type. Off the beaten path, in the neighborhoods. Native style fixings. Got my broadband nice. Life is good eh?

    RHB,

Now you know I am wordy, beware.

PS: no I did not marry the waitress.

    Hello RHB,

welcome to DI. Great way to introduce yourself. Hehe you're right, we shoul start an Boulevard-community thread... I am 2.5 years down here now after 3.5 in Puerto Galera and love the place here. One of my big critics is the "long-nose" community here. Living in the city of gentle people, but acting the opposite... but your right, thats another thread... All the est to you, your wife and your small buisness

    cheers

    Rhoody

Hehe I am up to that big time, when ever you get it in your shop... hehe. I can only get german Wheatbeer in cans here and it tastes so terrible, that they took it out of the cheapest discountmarkets ....
I fly out tomorrow, but will be back on Sept. 22. always ready for a cold SMB and some good talking

    cheers in advanced

The best I have found so far, well best is not a good word, but lets say favorable import type is Carlsberg in cans through Asia brewery, brewed here under liscense I think. Saw it in Manila.
We have all the SMB products here so stop by on your return. CHEAP barangay prices. (and I keep it cold, not luke warm) Adding Asia brewery this week. When in Rome do as the Romans I say, SMB is way ok for what it costs.
We are busy with the SM try outs for their national drinking contest this week, should be interesting. We are one of three locations in our reps territory. See you mabe when you return.

Hmmm, national beerdrinking contest and I am not here.... The Dane who runs this page and me would be probably strong contestants for SML and SMB and a place in the very front... ok I gotta keep track on our consumption when I visit him tomorrow and stay with him a week

    cheers

It's not a quantity contest, although San mig figures to sell a lot of beer, but a timed contest. 5 person teams, 5- 330ml SMB's. As far as I currently understand it is round robin deal, first person drinks his, then the next, like a relay. except your neighbor can finnish yours if you can't. Not sure how one could effectively chug from a bottle though. The deal is 11 pesos per bottle for try outs. Finalists will compete a El Camino Blanco for City trophy and cash. Then off to Manila for the winner.

back in my youth, we used to take pop top cans, turn em upside down punch a hole in the bottom then pop the top and drain the ontents in about 4 seconds. Don't ask me to demonstrate, knowing me, I would aspirate the contents now.

I love a happy ending love story and yours is just one of them. My hubby and I would love to pop in and enjoy a cold cola or SMB or might be jamming, singing my heart out with your karaoke perhaps and just relax.

By the way, welcome to the forum.
