Hello there! Victoria here. I just joined this forum. I used to live in Dumaguete and I still go there often. I love this place...it's my second home. So I would love to keep in touch even through this site.

    Thanks

Hi Guys!!!! Thanks for the warm welcome! I feel at home already in this site. I used to have a childhood friend named Swanee so I kinda expected Swany would be her. Anyway, it's good to know other people love Dumaguete because it sure is the best place to live in. My plan is to live there again some day. But I'm sure disappointed that there are these violent incidents. I do hope the authorities will do something to control these things. Have a great day Swany, Chrissar, Kevin and Cheche!!!!

Thanks for the nice welcome, Kewl. Yah, I just hope the authorities will clean up the city so that our beloved Dumaguete will remain clean and quiet...

Hi Victoria, it's really nice to have people like you, in this board, who happened to also love Dumaguete. Although I don't live in this beautiful city, but I keep in contact with my relatives and family there, and also we go back every year. Oh by the way, my name swany is just my screen name Vic. Sorry it's not the Swanee you knew from before. Speaking of violent incidents in the city I don't think Dumaguete that bad compared to some other places in the Philippines. As you well know, Dumaguete is a fast growing city, and lots of people from all over Philippines (including the expats) are relocating to this city of gentle people and neighboring towns. Have a wonderful day Victoria.

    Hi Victoria and welcome!

I first visited Dumaguete in 1993 as a volunteer and fell in love with the people and place. I have been blessed to return many times whenever I could fit it in with my job. I have seen so many changes. Although I have been excited at how much Dumaguete has grown and offered so much more but with that came the crime and violence. This is the case in any country. I loved living in Chicago, USA compared to now being in Missouri but the difference in crime/violence goes with the growth in these areas. I am especially saddened at the amount of drug use now common in the youth there. THis wasn't as big of a problem before. We have had to throw out some kids in our organization's college scholarship program because we now require spontaneous drug tests and caught some of them w/ drugs in their system. We do our best to keep them on the right path but also must have rules and enforce them.
