You may not be able to. I had major surgery after almost being killed in a motorbike accident in 2011. I have no doubt the thoracic surgeon saved my life. No way I could travel.

One thing hospitals have done since the law stating they can't keep you hostage unless you were in a *private room* went into effect is they started calling near every room private and semi private also. I have even seen a *private ward* and *semi private ward* as crazy as it sounds. They think just tagging on the word private and coming up with a lame excuse will make it all great for them.

This law doesn't mean you can just walk out of the hospital without paying. Promissory notes must be made for you to leave the hospital.
It should also noted that this law does not protect those who stay in private rooms. Definition of a private room is given in the R.A..-
