The spray gun was bought locally but says it is from a US company, made in Mexico. I'll do some research to see if I can't figure out how to get it properly adjusted or see if the wife can't find someone that can figure it out. The varnish is pretty much done so I would like to get it working when we start painting.

    A rainy Monday

The rendering is pretty much what is going on right now. The rain today pushed back the work I wanted done to excavate the other side of my culvert as well as starting on the catch basins. I did not get around to trying out using varnish on the bricks today, but do think it is a great idea to try out. The stucco mesh for the ceilings seems to have been a good choice as there was no issues with plaster falling and it seems to be sticking well. I think the main bit of rendering will be finished for the first floor exterior of the house tomorrow.

My plan for once the rendering is completed in the rooms is to place the floor slabs, paint the walls and ceilings and then floor tile. We started the ceilings for the master bedroom area so we are not too far away from making this happen. The second floor is not my priority at the moment, especially with the number of folks we have. Both me and the wife are comfortable with the workers we have, and she is not keen to the idea of bringing in any additional folks...slows things down but she is in charge of the workers and that has worked out pretty good so far.

Larry, a few hours of pretty heavy rain with good thunder and some wind. Actually helpful when I start looking a bit more at drainage on the site. I have a plan to put in a couple rain water collection systems and the amount of water coming off things has me a bit excited about it.

I heard the thunder and rushed out to cover the boat, but only three or four drops on a motorcycle seat is all we got.

    A quick pics from today

Had to go to Dumaguete today to pick up some materials; not sure why that always ends up taking most of my day so just some quick pictures as we got back as the guys were packing it in for the day.

I am suppose to have a quote for the windows on Thursday, the girl is a friend of the wife's so we are only getting the one quote (not my normal thing). I have debated back and forth on letting our two carpenters build the doors and cabinets and have decided to look for a shop better equipped to do what I will want done. I will start looking around Tanjay tomorrow, but if I come up empty I will be asking for advice on where to go to get them made...not going to have one of those plastic "Pretty doors" in the house.

City Hardware in Duma has a halfway decent selection of real quality wood doors and pictures of the full line of doors that they can get if they don't have what you want in stock. They also have wood door jamb kits and wood cabinet doors and drawers fronts.

Cabinet faces are not difficult to make if you can get square and straight uniform lumber to make them with. To join the pieces use a drill and a Kreg Jig.

I know what you mean about the plastic doors and cabinets. They are extremely overpriced and while temporarily looking good they will not stay that way for long.

My Kreg jig, router and most other wood working tools are in storage...miss them dearly right now. One of my hobbies was making furniture and cabinetry so I have a ton of tools that just aren't here at the moment.

I looked at the doors at City Hardware a couple weeks ago, some good doors; they just did not have exactly what I want for the exterior and interior doors so I think my only option is to get them custom made. We'll start looking around tomorrow in Tanjay and if that doesn't work we'll expand the search...I know I've seen places along the highway between here and Dumaguete that had doors displayed, just need to find them.

Shawn , wilcon also had a reasonable interior door range when I was there , good idea to have your entry door specifically made because you may want to make provision for a security door to also be able to be fitted , becareful on timber choices , make sure it has been sitting for quite a while with a bit of air flow , the last thing you want is cupping and twisting in the timber after it has been installed , I know it is obvious to paint or laquer the front and back of the door , but make sure the top an bottom are also sealed , being an old carpenter I love timber , but not the disappointment it can bring , especially in the phils , as long as it never gets hit by direct weather should be ok , you may remember the exterior doors at my place are all aluminium , horses for courses though .
