    Tony,

Agree the paint is no big deal. I visited where the sand was coming from (very comical way of getting sand) as well as the crusher plant for the gravel before we ordered anything. No worries about having a high salt content...though probably more organic matter than you would find in a western country.

Shawn , where abouts is the crusher plant ? , because I am always asking them to use gravel in the mix , instead of boulders , but they say they can't get gravel !! , I think they call gravel tuclas , it goes against my grain so much the size of the rocks they use in the mix , would love to steer them to the gravel supply , regards Tony

Tony...I was being told the same thing and just had to have the wife keep asking around. The gravel comes from Solon Quarry, it is supposed to be the largest in Tanjay. The wife does not have a phone number but it should not be too hard to get directions (we even took a trike out there once when our vehicle was acting up and he knew where it was). It is around a 15 minute drive out there from Tugas.

They have the correct size gravel, though you will have to pick out a few larger stones that you will find (not many). You should have seen my eyes light up when I first when there.

    Some beam pics

Here are a few pics from the beams from yesterday. The previous days work ended in some rework as they did not seem to understand how to do a extra mid span bar and end bar as well as not following correct stirrup spacing.

    Current project

I know this does not have anything to do with my original post, but did not feel like starting a new thread. My wife has been bugging me to send her some pics on the latest progress on my project over here.

Figured I'd share some for anyone interested in seeing some military construction over here.

Jim...not sure everyone would agree that they build them strong in the Philippines...but thanks, our house will be stout and feel very comfortable knowing my family will be able to weather out what mother nature can put to us.

I keep finding that the guys want to revert back to "how they've done things before", can't say if it is because they don't really understand the drawings and are afraid to ask or if they just feel it is not necessary. Been interesting the past few days to get things right, so getting the beams done is taking longer than I had hoped for. Most important is that things are done correctly so I can live with an extra day or two to sort things out.

    Take care,

    Shawn
