 Today, we had our first little niggle about the house build, Because of the shape of the Lot, (enlongated oblong, back end 3mtrs wider than the front end) we can have the Entrance in either of 2 places. To my mind the house should face down the lot, Azon agrees, now, I would sooner have the Entrance at the rear of the Lot and have a short driveway. Her idea was to have the Drive at the Front and have a longer drive. To me, this will reduce the garden size. She maintains that in the PI the entrance is always at the front. As we will have 2 roads to choose from (It is a Corner Lot) To me, I think a shorter drive and more garden is more beneficial. Does it really matter if the drive is at the back or front or is this another PI superstition. Any Ideas or views welcome!

Find someone who says they're a feng shui expert. Pay them a couple hundred pesos in advance to tell your wife the driveway has to be in the back, where you want it.

Houses here OFTEN do not face the main road the sit on. Most do, but many don't.

Jack, in Makati I had a corner lot and the house had a gate on each side of the corner so if you wanted you could enter in one gate and exit the other; thus, no need to turn around. The house faced the driveway. Not sure if that works or interests you.

If your House has a back Door to the Kitchen at the back, it may be better to have the Gate at the back as it will be easier to bring your Shoppings into the House also where do you intend to Park your Car would bee good to decide now as this should be also a factor making the decision.

    so far so GOOD!

 Azon has just seen the revised plans, she has admited that we would loose so much garden with a long drive. She is now hinting about turning the house to face across the lot, this way she gets the drive to the front. exactly where I want it BUT the House to me is facing the wrong way! AgHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Plan "B" needed :D:D:D:D

    windows, sun, heat........

Just something to consider if you have options on how to have your house facing......definitely look at where the most intense heat of the sun is on your house during the course of the day, to me that would be morning hours and early evening hours. I didn't have the option of turning my house because it is in a subdivision, but I WAS able to opt out of a window that would have brought that early morning heat directly into our bedroom every day. We still have a patio door in our bedroom, so we still have plenty of sunlight (and heat). We also closed two windows at the back of the house that only faced a concrete wall, but would have also been another source of the evening sun bringing heat in the windows (which act as convection ovens). This gives us more wall space to play with, also.
    Good luck with your house!!
