When any body suggest they are looking for a house to rent, your normally get the same answer here on DI.

It's best to visit and stay in a pension house or hotel while your searching. Like anywhere in the Philippines one has to find the quiet areas to live and basical one only ever gets exeptably quiet. You may want to hire a motor bike to help you search around there are many places to rent a bike. If you visit the Boulivard your find many ex-pats that will be able to help you with advice on where to find a place over a cold beer.

The people here are mainly friendly you of course get the idiots of whom you can find anywhere else in the world. You certainly will not be treated like the plague, but if its noise that's the problem one has to learn to adapt or search for that special quiete place and that would be out of the city.

Sorry about your experience in Cebu, I lived there for 7 years I notice that once I got use to the noise it was not that bad. I hope you find a nice place here on Negro's its a much cleaner Island and the traffic levels are acceptable, no big traffic jams. Its a good move to make and you should not regret it.
