I hate to say it but those questions are probably required. There are many many people who have no earthly clue what they are doing when it comes to anything dealing with technology. I would bet that those first couple questions resolve about 70 percent of problems people are calling in with....as silly as it might seem to some of us. It might also be worth remembering that they are dealing with a largely IT ignorant population. These internet connections are likely the first internet connection they have ever had in their homes...something most of us westerners had 10 -20 years ago.

Totally Agree, Over the last 5 or 6 days I have PLDT on the phone almost daily about this new set up and most of the problem can be sorted out on the Phone and the monitor. Once they know what the modem is doing they get you to put up the account set up and Status page on Screen and I tell them what is happening and 9 times out of 10 the problem is solved. The only time I had a technician? call, was to adjust the Antenna

This isn't the case with globe, when you call them or mail them in manila they are only a call center who just read off a script. They really have no idea whatso ever about anything tech!
All they do is send the tech guys here even though you tell them it's not a problem on our side it's theirs.
Globe seem to use all outside contractors for all the work, and I know of three different ones, cabling, house hold and one other which eludes me.
I won't use the word on here what I think about this company or I would probably be banned for life  . What I will say they are the most tech ignorant company I've ever dealt with but have no choice here.

Haha, Although I love my Globe internet, I cant argue with you about the fact that they are indeed tech ignorant. The 1 day my internet did go down I called up and the woman didnt know what the hell she was talking about and sounded so robotic I pushed a number to see if it was an automated system.. lol jokes aside, she instantly scheduled a "tech", frustrated I rebooted the modem, unplugged/replugged wires and power cycled a few times and it was back and working.. Luckily that was the 1 instant in over a year I ever had to call and b*tch about something.

Well Davy, there it is in a nutshell, I can't get any Signal at all with Globe for the IT connection and the phone is pretty Dismal so I am stuck with Smart although since PLDT have taken a more positive role in services it has been much better

I guess we all have some problems at times whichever provider we have, grin and bear it is the name of the game:woot:

I usually do this about once or twice a moth with my Globe modem.....sometimes even when there is nothing wrong with it, just in anticipation of it dropping a signal. lol

Is that DSL with PLDT or SmartBro which is owned by PLDT but really smart and far different? Just wanting to know if PLDT DSL is now in Valencia.

Well, could be. But if they were knowledgable they would realise when I say e.g. "The modem will synchronise but not connect with internet", that the problem is not the line, and that sending a technician will not do any good. But, they continue following their flow chart until the point where you say something technical, you get a reply "We send a technician".

That is DSL. Very stable connection and speed is ok. Have used it for ~2 years now.
We live in Bong-ao, about 200m south of the Robinson - Valencia road, left turn right at the Iglesia Ni Cristo church.

Thanks, nice to know Valencia is now covered least partly for DSL. Looks like a better location to move now for a computer geek like myself.
