    Can't fix stupid?

What I have noticed is that many (not all, of course) of the guys coming here looking for a wife are complete social rejects in the West that no woman from their own country would waste more than 5 minutes with...with many of these guys seeming to not have had any positive attention from the opposite sex in decades (I'm guessing their mothers weren't too loving). Extremely low self-esteem, domestic abuse, prone to violence, fidelity and jealously issues seems to be a very common problem with these types. Coming to a country where their poverty level income (usually from a disability/retirement/online porn website check from the West) ensures that they get the attention their mothers never gave them only encourages these types to do everything they can to remain in the country, which leads to the easiest solution to stay in country...marriage. These losers benefit just as much as opportunistic Filipinas do from the no divorce rule in the country. A foot in the door to their own perceived paradise.

Your experience is very limited. I am a professional and my Filipina wife is also a professional. There are unique experiences for many people here. My wife grew up here and in poverty but was persistent in getting an education. We live here because it is a better environment to raise our son. I love the people here even if the politicians are corrupt and the internet is poor. The reason for marriage can be love and the fact that the woman truly cares about family and values. Every case can be different, but remember there are many successful men and many successful marriages here.

And than there is the intelligent Man with money charm, great looks and everything going on that has come to learn that Western and most European cultured Females (by the most) are promiscuous, empowered, untrustworthy, testosterone fed, gold digging, pretentious, tramps that herd up with their friends to notch their skimpy belts with dozens of men and often prior to graduating from a Collage. More and more Men are Marring an Asian women as there is a much better chance of finding that Gal that has retained some morals, values and decency with loyalty and commitment at heart.

Also having said (the truth) ........there will be that response of "You must have been hurt badly'
Give me a break!! I agree with Rye83's above post by the most part, I am just filling in the a clear and obvious reality. Cheers!

I'm glad the great scholars of past and present didn't have the same thought process, otherwise some people would still believe the earth is flat, dinosaurs didn't exist, and that God is real.

    Hang on.......... :nailbiting:

Agree and, although Rye is correct that there are many MANY foreign losers here, from a host of richer western countries including my own, often not attractive to their native women but living here with pretty women who are desperately poorer, often separated with children and cannot get married again. They taking advantage of the women and the lower cost of living, especially for the booze and flophouse pensions. The foreigners here and the ones I know best have the means to support the economy and could live middle class lives in their home countries if they so desired. I don’t see the “losers” very often as I don’t patronize the well know gin mills on the boulevard and elsewhere but they are there, sometimes headlined in the local news for their various antics. Such people most often are here on 9A tourist visas for years and years and that is one problem; the government allows tourists to essentially become permanent residents as long as the pay for extensions. Foreigners who are serious about taking a responsible place in society here will make arrangements to get a permanent residency or stay as a Balikbayan spouse if married to a Filipina. For some reason the government allows these overly extended tourist visas and if they only were allowed to use the tourist visas for their intended short term use, this abuse of the Filipino people would largely end .The current government here occasionally threatens to end these visa waivers and if it does happen (which I am not a proponent of because it would end most legitimate western tourism as well and hurt many people here), such an action would result in a better class of foreigners. If I were here on a tourist visa for years and years, I couldn’t help but think I am taking advantage of the system and could not consider this place “home@ in terms of long term residency. Pay the deposit for the SRRV or SSRI or marry the woman you are with and give the long term commitment but don’t abuse the system as a fake permanent “tourist” getting drunk every night night and screwing the hookers, messing up our image. I wish the government would issue these visas only for the short term purposes for which they were intended, allowing legitimate tourism but require others to obtain visas that require a commitment either by actual Marriage or financially.

Actually, what you wrote is much, much more focused on 'limited experience', isn't it? It really does nothing to refute what our local Howard Stern wrote. Are you aware that many, many Filipina share exactly the same opinion as 'Howie' expressed? *shrug* It is what it is.

I've been coming to the Philippines for 15+ years and have met countless foreigners, both good and bad.

I'm glad you aren't one of the "many" I spoke of in my previous post and that you are in a healthy, happy and fulfilling marriage. However, I'm not so sure there are all that many "unique experience" left to hear, I've heard your story pretty much word for word just from members here on this forum and I'm sure what you haven't told shares similarities with most every other expat. I'm betting it would take less than 5 guesses to figure out how you came to meet you wife and decide on the Philippines. Nothing original about how I got here either and I'm sure it would cause plenty of yawns. No intentions to insult you just pointing out that there really aren't that many unique experiences out there.

Also, please note that I said:
I went with the word "many" intentionally. I didn't mean "all" or even "most". Consider yourself lucky that you haven't had the displeasure of meeting these, all to common, miscreants that give us foreigners a bad name. I imagine you avoid meeting most of them by being in a healthy marriage and having a circle of friends in a similar situation.

This hasn't been my experience with Western women. Sure, these types exist but I wouldn't consider them to be in the majority.

Dang, I try to avoid being the approachable-nice-guy type. I thought I was doing a decent job of making it clear that the chances of anyone enjoying my company would be very slim. I guess I need to work on that. :finger::mooning:

    I don't know.
    Here, Here.

Requiring bank statements and police background checks for a visa extension would greatly reduce the number of social rejects. Many countries require this after about 3 or 4 months.

I don't think anything in the Philippines regarding immigration (or most other official things requiring paperwork) needs to be made more complicated than it already is.
As the old saying goes be careful what you wish for....
