Rumor ? Hardly a Rumor Sirmoori, In another Thread you were quite Clear, you were leaving next year. To me, this was your Decision, A fact, Not a Rumour. Jack P.
hehehe,,,,I was a bit slow but the penny dropped eventually Prog:D I wonder if Jimeve Jack P or Broadside got it ?
Certainly did, although I thought that that particular piece of Cockney rhymning slang, (Ruby Murray - Curry), was more widely known, along with the more common :- Frog (and toad) - road Dog (and bone) - phone Apples (and pears) - stairs Trouble (and strife) - wife Saucepan (lids) - kids, and the wonderfully politically incorrect Ginger (beer) - queer. Just a little off topic. I knew Ruby from a distance, as I worked with her brother Jack Murray. We were both Diplomatic couriers and were occassionally tasked to operate as a two-man team. Jack was previously the Station Warrant Officer of RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus. When Jack died prematurely, Ruby came to the funeral and sang there. Jack served his country well and was awarded the MBE, whilst Ruby had the fame but her private life was marred with tragedy. Unhappy divorces and a descent into alcoholism blighted the life of Ruby, who had the most golden and soft voice, and the last time I saw her it was quite clear that this was a once gracious lady in sad decline. Ruby died on 17th December 1996. Back to topic. David very kindly invited me to the last curry event but I was unable to attend. I certainly hope to make myself available for the next one later in October if the invitation still stands. Roger
