    Seems to me if you need anything done and you have a legit complaint it worth going to police headquarters down near the airport. The local plod are a bit tied to what the municiple mayor says!
    They are not all lazy bit it doesn't help,they just want an easy life with not too much paperwork or stress and one of the biggest probs is they are employed locally and related around the barangay to a lot of people.

    I agree but IMO it has more to do with the social stigma attached to the family for letting this happen to their child, sibling, niece, nephew, grandchild etc... One of the worst things that can happen to a family here in the PI is to become the grist for the gossip mill or as the locals call it "Tsismis". Filipinos are know to become very violent in defense of their individual or family honor or face as it's sometimes referred to. They try to avoid this at all cost unfortunately including the abuse of a family member. Messed up IMPO but that it does happen here sometimes...

    Shabu does not cause pedophilia. No other drugs cause it either. It is a mental disorder. I would say alcohol would be far more dangerous for a pedophile since it lowers inhibitions and reduces impulse control.

    I think a large percentage of child molestation doesn't get reported here because it is most likely done by family members and the family does not want to "lose face". It happens all the time in the US like this as well.

    I would be almost certain that the police are going to take any report of child molestation serious. It would be critical to get the victim to the hospital to be checked by a doctor and try to get evidence ASAP to ensure a conviction. I know that Filipinos consider child molestation a horrible act and don't want these type of people running around. The problem is getting people to report the crime in the first place.

    Actually that is reported in the local papers and news quite regularly here as the excuse. Not saying it is a direct connection, but that it lowers the some peoples inhibition similar to alcohol and they may do things they normally would not. I see and read it quite regularly in the Filipino press and news shows. Ask your SO. Just because that's the excuse the locals use does not necessarily make it true. But that it is reported fairly often. Maybe that's the local version of saying marijuana is a gateway drug while in fact it is alcohol that is the gateway drug to more serious drug abuse.

    Alcohol and any other drug is just an excuse to relieve the guilty of responsibility for their actions. No amount of alcohol and I don't see how any drug could make think of kids in that manner much less do anything to them. Yes they need psychological help but that does not dimish being responsible for their actions.
