Lol they never had AOL. They live out in the county where cable has not been ran yet. Options are satellite, which is very expensive...and slow, or what the have now. They only use FB and occasionally watch YouTube videos so they don't need anything more than that. I also don't recall dial up being anywhere close to 2mbs.

While that looks good on paper I will wait until I see it with my own eyes. Being an optimist I would assume anything would be an improvement from what is available now and competition is always good for the customer unless there is collusion which is rampant here in PI. Although in Angeles City, Pampanga they have fiber optic capability with 20Mbyte downloads available for a price.

Is your internet speed different today? In Tanjay City we have 0.12 Mbps. Globe At Home.

Yes, same in Bacong very slow with Globe o.61 mb/s and normal around 16 mb/s. Pay 1599 pesos a month for up to 20 mb/s. Anyone know if we can get PLDT fiber in Bacong? Neighbour pay 3000 pesos and have 100mb/s I will upgrade but prefer PLDT fiber over Globe

Saturday and Sunday afternoon-evening my Globe slowed considerably. Recently, Globe technicians replaced my modem ("Oh, so old" although it was not replaced at the last visit, within the last 6 months). The new one emits wifi, which overjoys the smartphone aficionados here.

The technician also made an interesting comment. He said, "21 within Philippines, 3 from outside". I subscribe only to 3 mb. This may explain the frustration of those who subscribe to 21 but only get 3.

Had the same problem with Globe Saturday night, Sunday everything was back and running good so I could watch college football.

I have a hypothesis as to what happened. The slowdown occurred the same time as Omyong was slamming Northern Luzon. I think the government hijacked as much internet speed as possible to be able to get real time information. They did not want another Yolanda. The government does not have reliable internet ability on some days, how many times have you gone into the LTO or some other place to see the sign "Off Line". Makes sense to me that they would redirect all possible help and bandwidth.
