OOOH slow down Dude, the city is getting better and better for 90 year old guys being pushed up and down the blvd in their wheel chairs. No problem they can't smoke or go to bars. OOps,where do they register their chairs and get a smoke test?

These guys are taking over the town. First I have to compete with them for the ladies, now they take away my smoking? Oh, well, respect my elders I guess.

    The Dude abides.

Strange this smoking law here, was outside the halls of justice today and asked the guard if I can still smoke and said was ok! The highest office in town and you can smoke hehe! Also robinsons still have the large ashtrays outside the doors and also no probs there but a friend of mine got a right bollocking in the town yesterday from the guys with red shirts even though he pointed out all the stinking two stroke tricycles going by choking everyone!?

Where There is Smoke There is Fire!

You my friend are "Mentally Hillarious!" I agree 100% with you. The problems is where to go from here? Not being able to speak a foreign language is a real bummer. I don't see lots of expats moving to places like Vietnam etc. If I am incorrect please let me know. Dumaguete has a large concentration of expats so it is easy to know what is happening around the city.

When I got married my wife tried to change me. In the end I left her. Same thing here. If you are going to make too many drastic changes here people will leave. Who will stay? The morally correct and uptight will take over.

I think they should start with fixing the potholes in the streets. Have you every wondered how many people are killed here in Dumaguete by these potholes? How many deaths are related to the smoke from the trikes or burning garbage? You will never know here because there are not real studies done on this here.

Awe but that would cost money with no real reward except saving lives. Better to enforce a no smoking law and clean up big time on the fines. It is all smoke and mirrors!

If you really want to make an impact here start with the trikes. That will never happen here. I am not going to get into this but do some research and you will find out why. View attachment 8736

Just don't take it so serious, that whole thingy will be forgotten soon like each and every city-ordinance invented in Dumaguete...

I believe Why Not only did the no smoking for a couple nights. Other bars on the Blvd said you couldn't smoke but as soon as I lit up they brought me an ashtray. Many of the local bars are hard core on the law though. No real loss there though.

Trike air pollution is much bigger than smoke pollution, bu not by far

I rode in a trike the other day. Besides all the smoke from other trikes and the smoke from the trucks and buses I do not understand how they guy can survive over 10 years at the job. I see shirts for an association of drivers of some type (and maybe guys at Robinson's collecting dues) so I would think they would start to get some awareness of the problem. It effects everyone's health in town, but the trike drivers that drive all day in it have to have some health issues coming on over time...I notice that most smoke so they do not smell the exhaust smoke.

If you read the ordinance, the only place where you can smoke is in your own house.
    -definition of public place:

Public places means all places, fixed or mobile, that are accessible or open to the public, regardless of ownership or right to access, including, but not limited to, establishments that provide food and drinks, accommodation, merchandise, professional services, entertainment or other services. It also includes outdoor spaces where facilities are available for the public or where a crowd of people would gather, such as, but not limited to, playgrounds, sports grounds or centers, church grounds, health/hospital compounds, transportation terminals, markets, parks, resorts, walkways, entrance ways, waiting areas, and the like.

    Nice!!

As angry as I am about the smoking thing, at least I can still urinate in these places. Or is that illegal now also?
