It shouldn't be this big of a deal....in times of crisises like Yolanda, people begin to donate things like clothing....instead of things like portable water filtration units or nonperishable food. A lot of donations are food based of course, not discrediting the donations at all.
But if you were a person who's world was just ripped away...would you pick a litre of water and some canned food, or would you pick the brand new pants from London?

It's better that they end up in an ukay, where someone foreign will buy them, thus giving the ukay owner real money to use for food to feed their families....rather than dirty and crumpled up in a garbage heap somewhere because no one wanted them in a smaller village.

Well I assume your point was that the fact that donated goods were being sold..

But I'd rather buy something that I liked and have my money put back into the hands of locals....rather than see a bunch of homeless people in brand new clothing....

Jessica , with all due courtesy and respect , what would be wrong with seeing homeless people in brand new clothing , if their clothes are ripped and torn and disintergrating off of their bodies , do they not derserve new clothes ? Or is it because they are homeless that they should have old clothes ? If you want to adjust your post I would understand .

    Kind Regards Tony

The point as I see it,is that thru the kindness of People, that kindness was diverted to a for profit entity. Hardly the intent of the original donator. I see nothing wrong with homeless or the less fortunate wearing new clothes, that was the intent of the donator also. I truly doubt that these goods were turned away by those in need, but diverted by ??? for a price and a profit.

I didn't say homeless people don't deserve new clothes, I said I'd rather see them eating and able to buy food for their families.
Speaking from being homeless more times than I care to remember, I would have picked food over new clothes any day of the week....I assume it's the same here.

The clothes were originally donated , they would or should not have had to pay for the clothing if the original intent was honoured , you may want to backtrack and get an understanding of where this thread originated , read JPs first post , and then we will meet you back here

    Regards Tony

Come on Jessica, get a grip, The Shop owner was never a victim of Yolanda. They are living well, on Practically ( Technically Stolen Goods.)

Like an awful lot of Stuff, much went missing, Donated stuff that never reached it's true Destination. Some unscrupulous person or persons Divide Stuff off and sell it to Wholesalers, who sell it on to ( Maybe, although I doubt it) Unsuspecting Shop owners.

If the Yolanda Victim, received a donated, pair of pants, then sold those pants for rice, OK BUT These Donated things are never getting to the Victims. Donated Goods are Not getting to the Agencies at all, for Distribution They are Being Sold for profit. You think that is Right do you?

For those, Not Understanding or are just, not sure.

It is Like this, On Sunday, you give the Barangay Captain 20 Shirts, for the school Children, who Suffered in Yolanda.
You ask him, to distribute, these shirts at the School. Yeah OK! sir.
Come Wednesday, you pass the School And You don't see any of these Shirts, (They were all the same colour)
Now, on Saturday, While you do a Little Shopping, at the Local Mini Mart, Wifey says, Hey Joe, look at these Kids shirts, they are only 75 peso each, shall we buy two for our Tony? So now, we are being asked to pay for Shirts, we donated to a good Cause and of course the Shirts never, reached the School, for distrubution.

That is what is happening here. So How would you Feel? This is a small thing, think about how Big this Got, with the amount of Aid that came in All Things, Food, Clothes, Materials and YES Cash:confused:

2 for them, 1 for me. Easy Money

    I rest my case.

    JP:(
