Any US citizens here get an ITIN for their foreign spouse for tax purposes? What's the easiest way to go about it if I'm in Dumaguete?
You can download the forms on the internet - you need form IW-7 (instructions) and W-7. I submitted mine by courier, but you may be able to do it via the US Embassy Consular Dept. I'm a Brit, but I had a US 401K plan and needed an ITIN to receive the money.
I did when my wife first came to the US for tax purposes. 16 years ago so don't remember much, other than it wasn't too difficult. Being another country ought to be interesting though.
Thanks. I can do it by courier, studying what is needed. Certified copy of her passport, but they seem to accept certification from the issuer, so I should be able to get it here.
Yup, I thought that too. Went to DFA at the mall - sorry sir, Manila DFA only for authenticated copy of passport.... It certainly is more fun... Now trying to find out which one.
