That dust gets everywhere, no matter how many tubes of silicon I go through trying to seal up the office. The only problem I really have with the heat is the amount of water I have to drink to stay hydrated.....and something about this water the military gets makes you p*ss two bottle's worth every time you drink one of them. My gf has been complaining that it has been unusually hot there. I'd still rather be there dealing with the humidity though.
Ok, so you mean that the dust in Afghanistan is preferable to the grit and grime and dust and crap, not to mention diesel exhaust fumes flying through the polluted air in Duma, that sticks to every ones humidly sweaty bodies........lol........... ?........each to his own........ I think I would prefer just washing off dust, than all the black crap after a day in Duma
We have poo ponds in Afghanistan....literally open ponds full of sh*t, on the military bases. I'll take a bit of humidity and pollution over that any day. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
At this exact moment in time, I am so incredibly proud of myself for exercising such disciplined restraint from posting the original comment I thought of in reply.............
If you've never been to Afghanistan then it is quite difficult to explain exactly what the dust is all about. When it blows your visibility is down to feet in front of you...it gets caked in your ears even on a calm day. Drive by a sh*t pond there...an experience very few get to enjoy. Shawn
You paint such a charming picture, I will book to go there on my next vacation.........lol............
The poo ponds are best enjoyed during the summer months. No hotels available lake side but camping is allowed. Swimming is not recommended though (some have tried on dares/bets...just not a good idea). It's particularly nice when they aerate the pond to keep the gas from accumulating at the bottom and to help the bacteria do its job.
I don't really want to know. The US doesn't have a good relationship with Afghan poppy farmers (our solution is to simply ban everything we don't like....making criminal organizations even stronger.)
Looks like there could be a strong El Niño event around the world this year as forecasted by the UK met office. So looks like it could stay hot here for some time. El Nino may cause 'substantial weather event' - BBC News
