I just wanna say a quick hello to the people on here, I've just got round to signing up even though I've been peeking in every now and then!

Just came back from Malaunay in Valencia after staying with my cousins for a month in May this year and boy did I forget what I was missing! The last time I spent time with them was back in '97 and '98 but I never got around to going back but now I've decided to come back every April where the Fiesta in Malaunay is on the 5th of April (and where it's not raining so much!)

At the moment I'm a UK based Filipino so I don't get to them as much as I'd like but if anyone knows anyone in Malaunay or Puhagan then I'd like to hear from you!

    Thanks again!

    See ya

    Hi Marky-p,

Welcome to the forum. Glad to hear you enjoyed Valencia. If you happen to have any pictures of Valencia, I hope you'll share them. I've only seen a couple pictures of that area but nothing substantial. anyway, again, welcome.

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures, only video-clips done on my mobile phone. I'll try to put them on at some stage if you like.

I also have a lot of relatives in Puhagan, my cousin Michelle lives almost right next to the power plant and works there too. Great view of the plant at night with all the lights!

Your cousin is lucky indeed. It's really nice up there. Last time I visited, I had a chance to go to the Philippine/Japanese/American Amity shrine and the PNOC plants. A couple kilometers up the road to the Amity Shrine, there's a beautiful Mansion-like house on top of a tall cliff with a magnificent view of the Dumaguete coastline. I was told it belonged to an American expat and his Filipina wife.

The road up the shrine was getting paved when I was there but there were sections that required 4x4 prowess.

The PNOC plants on the other hand could be taken the longer but easier way around. The shorter, steep, and rocky route also called for 4x4 capability or a taller offroad bike.

That would be great. I'd appreciate that, if it's possible and not too much trouble.

Agree with you J-Dog, On our last trip to Negros, we visited the shrine. This time visited the PNOC plant and had a great trip. Wonderful vistas around and towards the plant!! Your right, although much of the road is paved, you do need a 4 x 4 for certain spots.

In that direction also is the pulan bato (sp?), or red rock falls. That is a great spot for a picnic / swimming, and you definitley need 4 wheel for that. There in the process of paving the road., but it's still going to be steep.

I'll post some pictures when I have a chance.

We're really having a great time exploring around Valencia!

Yes, I remember that mansion when we went quadbiking on the way up there. Probably the best view I ever saw from the shrine itself. Speaking of which, does anyone know if the guys that run the quadbiking place in valencia, whether they have a website or something? There was someone working behind the bar there who I'd like to get in touch with but there doesn't seem to be anything advertised anywhere :(

    Thanks!
