I think Paul is the same guy as I heard about. He seemed to survive the incident.

Very good info. Thanks a lot. For my own part I am sure I am a bit too naive as a traveller. Traveller is the only thing I have been so far. I mean I didnt live permanently in any other country than Sweden yet. As a traveller for 18 years to most of the countries in south east Asia, south Asia, Australia, south America and the USA I have only had one incident. A break in to my bungalow in Koh Phangan, Thailand in 2006. I lost a cheaper mp3 player. So I have been very lucky.

    newbornnapper

Sharing news about a newborn baby that was stolen from own mother at the provincial hospital a few days ago. According to a neighbor who only knew a few details, the woman who took the baby from the mama's arms said to claim back the baby from the nurse station after an hour. It was 4 PM according to the story. The baby stealer was in nurse uniform! Baby was gone. :( Arrgh. Strange things happening in DC these days though there might be more that don't get told about.

Safest plave to stay in the Philippines

Living outside metro manila, especially in the province is nice. crimes commited against foreigners are isolated cases.compare the worst crimes in the US, a murder of a husband against his wife.burlars attacked and robbed a grocery store. So, crime is everywhere. everywhere you go, there were bad and good people.

Filipinos will not get jealous or envied a foreigner.maybe, only because you are good english speaker, blonde hair or tall guy.that's it. Majority of Filipinos were God-fearing and some foreigners were murdered maybe his wifes' relative or his girlfriends' relative planned it to get with money involved.it happened in Iloilo, wherein an australian was murdered in his house, spared only was his wife.many filipinos suspected the other side on his wife.but that was an isolated cases. a kidnapper in the Philippines would not kidnapped a foreigner (earning only a living thru his pension), would likely target a rich filipino (ranson Php 10M).

If you plan to live anywhere in the philippines, like Filipinos do, survey the place, know the livelihood of the people around, and the level of education of the local folks.Of course, a filipino professional will be easy to get along with.if you live among the poorest community in that area, with people who seem to be without discipline and lot of people were all standbyes, its is not a good place to be.

communicate with filipinos around, you can asked them for you settlement in the country and truly, you are welcome to live in the philippines and enjoy here the beaches with the familiar and happy faces of the filipino citizenry.
