It moved locations 2 months ago. Now it is on Felipe St. Only an H & J for a sign. No one has an idea where it is, they are lost in the sauce when giving directions.....nothing new though. Ruby doesn't come into work until 8 or 9.
So if you go down to Olongopo, ask for Rosy (not palm) at one of the 2000 bars. She is probably about 65 yrs old now, ask for the USMC special. lol.
I have wondered this myself. They (as well as the Japanese) seem to have a reputation for overspending. They aren't any richer than Western visitors, so why would they overpay? Actually, I can't back this up with anything except stories, so this might not really be the case. I have seen Koreans be pretty cheap here also, but those were students. I think the answer would be partly cultural and partly differences in how they handle their finances. For example, while Japan isn't a richer nation than the U.S. one of the things which was kept the Japanese economy from completely cratering with their high government debt is the fact that the citizens are savers. Much of the government debt is financed by household savings going into government bonds. Maybe they let go of their frugal ways while on vacation and go wild with a bit of that savings. The cultural component might be the feeling of elevated status by spending big money. Status is something that Americans could care less about. We are more concerned about getting ripped off than looking like high rollers.
I think the desire for status (keeping up with the Jones') is what made the American economy what it was/is....the rise and now the fall. Even here I think most come to live a higher standard of life (higher status) than what they could in their home countries.
