    Antibodies are not our bodies only defense against disease. I think the wane in vaccine protection is overstated and keeping high antibody levels is an unnatural and unrealistic goal.

    It seems Moderna is better than Pfizer for booster shots. More antibodies.

    Rye, they've never pretended that antibody levels are anything other than a proxy for the immune system that can be measured. Keeping high antibody levels was never the goal, it's an indicator.

    Then why the concern with low antibody levels after 6 months? I think it is an initial indicator that the vaccine worked but they should decrease over time, no? The articles posted here seem to indicate that boosters are intended to bump up antibody levels after they wane.

    The waning of the immune systems response is real world waning. Increasing numbers of fully vaxxed folk being hospitalized and ending up in the ICU, indicating effectiveness of the response is lowered, especially in old folks. It seems to correlate with lower antibodies in old folks, etc. So lower antibodies seems to be a practical indication that can be done locally. Th nice thing about this study is this:
    "More participants from the BioNTech group reported discomfort and swelling at the injection site as well as fatigue and muscle pain than those who received Sinovac as the third dose. But the researchers said the adverse reactions were only mild and short-lived."
    So no significant adverse events. People are waiting on data to authorize mRNA booster shots, and it's finally coming out. Good news for those who got Sinovac.

    I think being old (and having a weaker immune system) correlates more than lower antibody levels does. Being old is dangerous. We really should try to avoid being diagnosed as old.

    Being old is a privilege not afforded to everyone. The older weakened immune system causes lower antibody levels. EU is discussing not being considered fully vaxxed till the third shot.

    What about Sinovac as a booster if 2 previous Sinovac jabs, if that is all that is available in my town?
