CDR King in Robinson's Mall sells a 32" LCD TV for Php11,500, a 32" LED TV for Php12,500, and a 40" LCD for Php16,800 when they have stock, of course. I'm guessing they are china-made so I'm not sure about the quality. Fil Products Cable TV is offering digital cable in some areas of Dumaguete and they are expanding this service. Does anybody if they have any HD channels?

Steve, I checked with FilProducts last month to see if they have HD. Their (girl at the window) answer was basically no and no idea when they can offer it. I have HD with Cignal Satellite and after 15 mos, very happy with then.

Hi John, this is the Cignal website: Cignal Digital TV, the first-ever nationwide HD satellite provider. A new TV standard brightens up every television in households across the country.. They now have 15 HD channels. I pay 1200+ monthly, and there is an installation and sat dish charge, not sure how much now days, my installation was 15 mos ago. Interestingly, Cignal moved to a new location with Dream and they both use the same installers. Their office is next to POS.

Thanks Pat, that's good info. And we'll definitely be upgrading to satellite once We buy an HD tv. 15 HD channels is a good start as long as its not all wowowee and eat baluga... Hahaha anyways, 1200 per month is a very reasonable price seeing how I'm paying close to $70 per month over here for Directv witout any of the movie channels like HBO or Showtime.... Cheers

I had brought 3 items to philippines from USA that had LCD screens and one was touch screen, abd one had a small mouse point and click screen and the other had a cheap modern calculator style LCD...The Cheap LCD screen reacted to power fluctuation maybe the surge part of it and has a dark spot on part of the screen...These were all 120 volt items USA style grounded grid design..So i would get shocked in philippines when using them even with Voltage converter and 1 out of 3 LCD got damaged..Maybe the nicer products are better shielded, but a surge protecter is a must..my damage is minimal as my unit still works...Ask PatO DI member about his surge damage issue and total losses just short of tieing a good noose and solving the problem real quick...oh god hope he got something from the power company...
