Hello Davewe, i assume that you read all the post on this thread. If not, please do it. Read my posts again and then maybe you will get my point, because i never said that using violence was OK, i was not looking for an excuse to act like that and i think im not that kind of dumb foreigner who beat up a Filipino, but a person that was using words and oficial police help for 5 months and one day made a mistake that may bring him legal problems. After all my words explaining what, why and how everything happened basically you come to this post threat not to give any help, but to point a finger to me, as you said, a person that you dont know. Thanks for your positive post, but next time choose to shut up.
Well I'm back so I guess that shutting up is not my fave option It seems to me that your above quote is the key. Granted you asked for official help for many months (and apparently got a little occasionally) but the incident where you got into the fight was not with someone who had harmed you for 5 months. His actions were as the cliche goes "the last straw". In your mind you had been getting angrier over the months but the 5 months of parking violations were not all his fault. His one parking violation was his fault. I owned my own successful business for 14 years - and frankly gave you excellent advise ; focus on making yourself and your business indispensable to the community and you will be a success; focus on parking and the occasional bad word and you won't be. While that may not be "legal advise," since your goal is to have a successful business, then just resolving the current legal problem is not enough.
Just an update to this thread...or more so on the OP: I think it's obvious why legal advice was needed. Being stupid can certainly make life harder. Being stupid and having a hot head is a great way to find yourself behind bars. Best of luck to the jeepney driver in his assault case and I hope he understands not all foreigners are all violent idiots. Opening thread.
And since there are some great lessons to be learned (mainly: "don't be a tw@t") I'll make it a sticky thread and give it an eye catching prefix.
Another area we could explore here is sometimes certain people push us to the limits of violence and I'm sure we all understand what is meant here,no logic and no common sense! And the worse is no respect and that's one thing I don't deal with well! And it aint just locals, some foreigners are also culprits of this.
A business owner's actions, attitudes, and words not only reflect upon him, but his business also. The commercial/advertisement value of this thread has been such that I have no interest in ever stepping into the business or talking to the owner. I wasn't the one who was told to shut up but if it is said here I can imagine a customer with an issue would be treated the same.
