State of emergency due to rabies in Benguet town
    34SHARESArtemio Dumlao (The Philippine Star) - August 6, 2019 - 12:00am

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A state of emergency has been declared in Sablan town in Benguet due to an increase in the number of rabies cases.

Sablan Vice Mayor Arthur Baldono said there was no reported death, but five persons were confirmed bitten by rabid dogs. Forty-eight other people, including those who handled rabid dogs, were exposed to rabies.

“The purpose of declaring the town under a state of emergency is for the local government to adopt a strategy and measures to contain further spread of rabies virus in the municipality and adjacent towns in Benguet and La Union,” the declaration, which was approved on Friday, read.

I agree with you on that.
WTF over, you think that the chit the vet injects into your dog to make him sleep is mothers milk! Hell no IT IS POISON. The end results is the same, your dog is DEAD. Just because a lying a$$ vet tells you your dog is going to go to SLEEP dose not mean that your hairy little kid is going to wake up, in a couple of hours and lick your face in thanks for being so good to him.
I really hope I got my point across. There is no difference if your dog eats the poison off the street or the vet pushes it into his veins. The end results is the same your hairy little kid is dead.

Do you think poison can solve the problem with stray dogs? Do you think poison is the right way to go?

The solution is simple: Tell the community if they have dogs they must put them on a leash on their property or in their house. Then police go out and shoot all stray dogs they see and offer P100-P500 reward for every dead dog a member of the community brings in.

They already have plenty of dog laws but as usual enforcement is the issue.
See for starters below. There's another link alsoone if I can find it.

The control of dogs in correct, although I would not agree with putting on a leash inside the grounds but to provide adequate fencing.

As for offering a reward - I think many dogs will go missing pretty quickly from people's homes!

Not all dogs are rabid. Rabies is a disease and not all dogs that you see on the road have it. Poisoning them or starving them are both criminal. Dogs actually help us in many ways. They could be good guards against thieves, killers, or what-have-you that try to break into your houses. They are good company, too. They can be fiercely loyal to their owners and will do everything to protect their humans. They are like human beings who have feelings. They know how to love, they get hurt, hungry, and if given the option, they would like to live a longer and happier life.

I am against any sort of cruelty to any animal. No to poisoning. No to starving. Feed them, have them spayed or neutered, and keep them safe in your own fenced yard.
