Exactly why you should never buy moonshine in the Philippines. Do you think your health matters more to them than pesos in their pockets? If someone can't go more than a couple days or weeks without alcohol (or any other drug) that is probably a sign they have a problem.
“Lambanog poisoning is caused by residual methanol, which in high levels becomes highly toxic for humans," health secretary Francisco T. Duque III explained in a statement. "Methanol is a naturally occurring substance present during the distilling process, that should be separated and removed thereafter.”

thats what I also thought - it may be that the Methanol is there as a result of poor production methods (vs added after the fact). Result is the same of course.
But even Jesus recognized the problems of lacking alcohol. I do not believe that being a follower of Jesus has any relationship at all to alcohol consumption; otherwise one would be in the untenable position of having to criticize Jesus Himself for having turned water into wine. I have always wondered how on-the-wagon type Christian religions justified mandatory temperance with this biblical miracle, especially since the choice to include the alcohol miracle in Christianity’s most important and sacred text had to have had a very specific purpose, perhaps to say that alcohol consumption is not evil after all. Somebody needs to ask the governor: What Would Jesus Do? WWJD Ah, quarantine blues.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
