    1. George Bush and our fantastic functional democracy!
    2. The incredible fairness of Wall St enabling all investors to be treated equally and fairly.
    3. The great economy.
    4. Our banking system.
    5. 8 months of winter every year!

    5 things this Aussie Misses from home!

    1. Good quality supermarkets that stock fresh, healthy and readily available food that is hygienicly prepared.
    2. Online shopping...if you can't find it here, you just hop online and get it delivered quickly.
    3. Great maintenance of infastructure..roads, rubbish etc
    4. Fast and reliable Internet
    5. Modern shops everywhere!

    BUT..having said that..5 things I love about Dumaguete

    1. People are friendly and helpful
    2. Nice scenery
    3. Small portion sizes for food which helps you eat less..in theory!
    4. Non consumerist attitude.
    5. Living the simple life!

    Love it. Just brought back two jars from UK, one for me and one for DavyL
    Along with Birds custard, Tesco beef gravy, buttered Smash, Colemans mustard, Bachelors soup and a big bag of Cadburys chocolate eclairs. :smile:

    I like it here very much, BUT I do miss these 5 and more from California:
    1. Going to Ralph's Supermarket and having a very wide selection of California wine, not too expensive, to choose from.
    2. Going to Togo's for a Tuna-Cheese-Avocado sandwich on a wheat roll.
    3. Great ethnic restaurants like Thai-Vietnamese-Mexican-Indian-Japanese.
    4. Being able to drive to mountains-desert-sea in less than 2 hrs.
    5. Seeing my son and daughter occasionally for dinner.

    Darn, I miss the U.S. corrupt government, Senators, lobbyists, Representatives, Presidents, local police and sheriffs department, mayors, governors, bankers, charities, churches, people ripping off the welfare system, stealing from the Soc. Sec. disability system , boy oh boy do I miss them.
