i think all flights were cancelled today from manila to Dumaguete and vice versa checked online this morning and noticed Cebu Pacific morning flight was cancelled but the pm one was still scheduled. Had to pick up a couple from Scotland at 4.15pm so checked online at 3.20 and still on time so left to go get them. Got there and after 15 min wait saw everyone coming back out of terminal. These airlines really need to get their act together and announce cancellations earlier, it was not raining and reasonably high clouds at airport. Had a txt from some friends in bacong they were also stuck in manila and they were on pal. Stop talking about the new so called airport and build it as its badly needed here!
Just some friendly hard learned facts. Anyone who takes a connecting flight out of Dumaguete to Manila (visa-verse) is taking a high risk of missing their international flight. The Fun in the Philippines part is that everyone else that has had their flight cancelled with re-book on the next available flight, which may then be fully booked for the next few days. This will delay your arrival in your destination for a few days. Any additional costs will usually be on the flying customer. Give yourself time to get out of town if you are leaving from Dumaguete, or take bus/boat to Cebu and be pretty sure your flight will leave at the right time. Note the restaurant across from airport, with the pirates statues and motorcycle type motif has better flight information gear than the airport (owner is flyer) so he is a better source of customer friendly information than the airport or airlines... food is good too. My lifespan is not long enough to see another airport completed in the area, but I will start believing it will happen when I see the local politicians start living at a higher standard than normal.
Try Flightradar24.com - Live flight tracker! I was at the airport once going to Manila. Low clouds so they couldn't land. I saw the plane circling between Bohol and Siquijor. When it diverted to Cebu I walked over to the counter and asked if it was cancelled. They didn't know, so I showed them that the plane was on the tarmac in Cebu. They then admitted it was just temporary and that they will make another try later. Later I saw them taking of from Cebu, again circling between Bohol and Siquijor. When they diverted back to Manila I walked over to the again, and asked if it was cancelled this time, as they now were on their way back to Manila.Again they had no clue, but verified it and announced the cancellation. It's a convenient tool to have on your cell phone as they are more often than not delayed, and it's nicer to sit on Finish Line and have a beer than in the waiting hall.
Well of course we have all been here long enough to expect nothing less than this haven't we? In all the years in and out of the PI I have always had a few days in Manila( Although I hate it) It gave me Peace of mind that I was there on the day I was supposed to leave and gave Azon some Shopping time. and of course, a couple of days to ourselves which was always nice. in the Latter days of my travels we always had a couple of days on my arrival too JUST in case we should be on the other end of the Cancellations JP
Yep your right, I was there yesterday eating breakfast and chatting to Brian. I think you also may have been there picking up some stuff from him.
OK Davy easy as it is you really do have me confused, WHO? are you talking to here. Just asking my friend nothing Sinister JP
