I'm looking for a person (or persons) that would be interested in doing a bit of moderation on the forum. I just don't have any interest in doing it any longer. The job is quite easy. You are looking at a couple actions per week and you'll need to handle 1 to 3 trolls per year. The actions that require moderation include: Approving new members that the the spam filter flags. (Legitimate users usually get flagged by using simple/common usernames like "Bob12", "AussieExpat", etc. Spammers always use flagged email addresses and IP addresses, usually from India or Eastern Europe.) Approving the first two posts of new members. (As long as it isn't an advertisement, trolling or obvious spam it gets approved.) Dealing with user reported content. (I don't even remember the last one submitted. You are looking at no more than 5 per year.) Trolls and troublesome members are obvious and easy to deal with. Trolls that are here to feed just get outright banned, no need to issue warning points, they aren't going to change their behavior. Troublesome members that contribute nothing get put on the "discourage" list, which makes pages return error messages or load slowly. They eventually give up and go elsewhere to be someone else's problem. I suppose I will remain an admin and will be around if there are any questions.
Rye, thank you for handling the moderation for so long. You did an admirable job. Hopefully, whoever takes over will keep the ball rolling. I am now too old to apply for the position myself.
Hi Rye, sad to hear you are obviously a bit tired to manage this forum. Hopefully it will be only temporary. Needless to say that you did a fanfastic job. Not only recently but for many years and this forum became a huge help for countless people. Especially during the last 2 years it was a very informative and helpful source of help, knowledge and advice. I hope you will find any kind of assistance that will guarantee the ongoing of this forum and will take away some work from your shoulders. Will not be easy at all. You put a personal note and touch to this forum. That's why it's unique.
