    hi,

After riding a wave125 for two years in N thailand, i never thought i would be so happy with the XR

    no more braking for potholes....hehe
    a decent chassis
    powerrrrrrr

so, time to explore the Philippine islands
anyone knows some interesting roads (winding, scenic, offroad)?

on youtube someone posted a route and called it a 'smugglers route on negros' or something like that, i'd like to know where that is.

if anyone would like to share some information i'd be very thankful.

    Cheers,

    Guy

Windings and scenic ?..............Go to San Carlos and take the road to Bacolod.
    Very scenic.
Go back via Kabankalan and Mabinay to Bais and Dumaguete.
You surely can test the performance there of potholes versus bike-suspension :D
Also Dgte.....Bayawan....Sipalay.....Kabankalan is worthwhile for test purposes combined with windings and pothole experiences.
Scenery is nice ............no jokes !

Route A: Enter at Santa Catalina and come out at Palinpinon.

Route B: Enter Valencia and come out onto route A: It's been quite some time since I was on this trail, sometimes referred to as the "governors trail". This may be the smugglers route you refer to. Simple Mind has been over this route, he may have updated info.

C: Enter Bayawan and come out Mabinay. Nearing Mabinay on this route be sure to check out Naludhan falls.

D: Enter Zamboangita and come out Siaton. This will take you past Tambobo bay. Since you have come out at Siaton, take the trip up to Lake Balanan. This trip a few of us will be taking in the next week or so, if you care to tag along...

Hi everybody, I have been on all three Routes and the one over the Palimpinon Mountain Road was the most interesting one but I have been up there about a Year ago and it was almost impossible to get to the Top, there are some very steep sections that are heavely washed out from the heavy Rains, If you can make it, it sure is worthwhile and great Nature and Views, for example from the Top down to the Palimpinon Termal Power Plant and down the Valley.
I would be interested to join in if some of you want to go.
    Regards:smile:

    Thanks for the great info

got enthousiastic and hopped on the bike and rode to valencia direction casaroro falls and turned right to the 'shrine'.

havent seen any shrine though coz was too busy avoiding the boulders and ruts (hmmmmmm.....lovin' it :D) but ended up on a paved mountain road with a view of dumaguete and cebu to the left and siquijor to the right........great view!!

wasnt sure it was the Palimpinon Mountain Road coz ended up in valencia

    cheers,

    Guy

No, that was not the Palinpinon road, that was Ipa Shrine road. To see the shrine you needed to turn left at the top where the saddle is. In other words, once you started back down, turn around and follow the road!

Think of Palinpinon as the Batinguel road extension..., ride up it at least 20 km or so. Be sure to hit Pulanbato falls on the "red river"!

I was thinking of suggesting the Trip up to Kasororo and Japaneese Shrine for a exercise to test your Off Road skills, I went up there 4 Days ago and there where some tricky spots good to learn to know your Bike.
In and around Valencia are some more interesting Roads/Riverbeds, For example drive up on the road going to Camp Lookout and then turn left after the BIG Cell Tower, then drive to Mampas all the way up to end, on the way back take a right turn in Mampas and follow the road down and around and up again to Timbao, take the first road on the right side up and follow to the top, both Places offer great views up and down the Coastline. Enjoy:smile:
