I arrived in PH in Jan 2019 on a BB privilege visa and converted my Maltese DL to a Pinoy DL in Mar 2019 at Dumaguete LTO without any problems. I picked up the plastic card about 4 months later and it shows 4 years validity.

 

best advice give here is to follow the intructions on line. i am on my second three year license, no problems. i am a tourist visa renewed every two months for the past six years. you too can be dale carnegie for thirty minutes!

 

My Phil licence last for 5 years. How come yours is only 3 years?

 

I have a US license and had no problem getting a Philippine license.
All I had to do was to show my permanent residence card and copy of passport and get an eye exam from a doctor (LTO-endorsed).
After a month I changed it to professional because it’s needed for driving a passenger van. This was done in Ormoc City, Visayas.

Good info you posted on getting a filipino drivers license by getting 6 month extension on my tourist visa. My main question i still have.Do i have to have my ACR freshly renewed,so that it shows a full year on it as well ?

They have changed the goal posts again and now allow a license conversion with only a 6 months Visa and not the year as it was a few months back, they now understand it was an impossible situation for anyone here on Tourist status, I think the ACR and the time allowance left on it will have little bearing on the matter as long as it is current? also I believe you can apply even when some months have past since you last received the 6 month Visa?

 

Im thinking if a man in a round about sort of way happened to have 100 bucks (or a toilet roll) sort of fall out of his pocket when you went to the desk, or near the info lady near the door, you too could get an ever lasting gobstopper

 

Yeah - you can get so much from a lady for 100 bucks.

 

What do peple here mean with "convert"? Do you keep your foreign D/L plastic card, or do they keep it and destroy it? Never seen that detail stated anywhere...
