Interesting you mention about the sugar cane lorries, last week I drove back from Bayaway, at around 2000hrs. I must of pasted 5 broken down lorries at the roadside, at least 5 more with no lights, no reflectors, but of course theres no roadside checks for these guys, that have no tread on tyres, brakes that are ineffective, etc etc . . . Incidentally when is the 'H' Day now, my filipino friends tell me its not until July. Hopefully there will be a weeks stop and inform, before they impliment, where only the 'rich' foriengers will get fined, and not the unsuspecting filipinos. . . . .

A P750 fine is cruel and unusual punishment

Totall agree. If you paid with a 1000p note, it's cruel to make excuses of why you are not getting any change, and would be unusual if you did. :D

I've seen native reed helmets that with a little clever engineering would make somewhat effective motorcycle helmets.
A couple of pads on the inside and a good chinstrap and it'd work just fine.

Just imagine how much more protection you'd have with a cheap aluminium calderin from public market # 3, Piece of string round the handles for a chin strap, imagine how much you could save on a real helmet........!

I'm fairly confident they all would offer the same level of protection for 95% of drivers here matter what kind of helmet. After all the last I checked their is no protection from stupidity be it riding a MC without a helmet or rolling around in a tank. The only saving grace is when said individual inflicted with said stupidity ends up in an accident the rest of us just because a fraction of a fraction of a percent safer.
