I heard this will go on the list with the 10,000 other laws of the land here that are implemented but not enforced.. O-|

I am almost sure it will be implemented and enforced for a few weeks until the shops sold their helmets they have in stock and some "enforcer" earned enough short term on penalties.

After that the checkpoints will disappear and nobody cares anymore. When it gets mid November we will have the next wave of enforcement to have some christmas money...

I'm sure it will still be enforced at checkpoints especially when a foreigner is involved. Many want every chance they can to make a few extra peso's.

I have not seen a post on acceptable helmets other than ones purchased new in DGT now have stickers that are approved. Is my $350 Bell helmet ok or do I need to have a new instant breakaway toy helmet with a sticker that says I am making a local someones bank account fatter? I don't mind wearing a good helmet but long pants, socks and shoes makes me sweat just thinking about it. Maybe I will start driving my car more.......In my shorts and sandals.

I think at the last moment as they normally do, half the workforce who own 'motors' will not turn up for the first week as they will not have enough spare funds to purchase these helmets or they will be forced to take a jeepney, as alternate transport.

Maybe it will be a good thing as there will be less motoring traffic on the roads....

Sitting in my local the other day and notice that probably 75% of the police going to the headquarters were wearing helmets of some kind or other ,, the remaining 25% were wearing jackets as camouflage and no helmets but what surprised me was only around 10% of the helmet wearers had the chin straps done up... I guess they missed that part of the sermon.. sudden stop = helmet goes flying = 2 micro seconds later------ head goes splat..O-|

You'll need to wear a top too, quite a few instances here of people getting pulled over for not wearing a shirt while driving 4 wheels......

This country must have contributed more to the 'Darwin Awards' then almost any other.......unfortunately, the gene pool just seems to be miraculously refilling with stupid.

Maybe they have been listening to Billy Crystal who once said in character "It's not how you feel, it's how you look". It should be interesting to watch this disaster unfold.
