Larry, more evidence to your post. Within the last 3 months, we bought three Honda motorbikes from Du Ek Sam. They gave us a helmet for each bike. Looking at the law posted above, I would assume they would be stamped as legal. Looked all over the helmets for the ICC sticker and they are nowhere to be seen.

Good point, wonder if those expensive Spyder helmets at the mall are legal? They are too heavy to me. I will go by the Honda dealer and confirm if the ones that came with the bike sales are legal or not.

my 12,000 peso Shoei helmet bought at motoworld in manila would be illegal as it doesn't have a sticker on it....

Shoei is a top brand sold in the rest of the world and really a great helmet. But of course, that probably won't be good enough here...

I am curious. Having never seen an ICC Sticker, does it look more like a 50 peso or a 100 peso bill stuck inside the helmet? O-|

Somehow, and maybe because big surprises happened to me four years ago when I moved to Makati, this whole helmet scenario reminds me of the padded bra syndrome in PI. Not sure of the correlation but my brain is telling me there is one. lol

The DTI would be the proper authority, but I'm betting they have other things to do...

Open letter to whoever is responsible for this truly confusing matter.

Why do you (Law Maker) do this to your people, this Helmet Law has come up how many times already and it is still not implemented.

How about making it much easier for everybody involved, forget about that ICC Sticker requirement and let's just implement the Helmet wearing, no mater if there is an ICC Sticker or not.

If you (Law Maker) don't want to consider this approach, I then have to assume that this is in fact a grave harassment of the Public with the intend of enriching the ones enforcing the law and their cronies.

If you (Law Maker) will come to the conclusion to drop the ICC Sticker requirement, I would assure you of strong support in implementing the Helmet wearing requirement and the implementation for the Vehicle Safety standards.

    Truly yours Simple Mind

There is certainly a emphasis and increase in enforcement or collecting of fines in the last 6 weeks. I went through a check point on the National Hi-way about 6 weeks ago with a 16 year old expired license, no motorcycle paper work and there were no problems.....That was the first check point I had seen in 3 months of living here. Since then I have seen 3 additional check points, all on the National Hi-way, and all three at night. I too wish they would look at tail/brake lights as no matter how good of helmet you have, when a cane truck runs over you at night because he can not see you, then it will hurt. AS some said in an earlier thread it is the Philippine Government's idea of population control.
