My company has issued me an id 75 which means 75 percent discount to purchase a a round trip ticket to any european countries being flown by LH airline. This is good for me, and entitled for 2 travel buddies. But i find it useless because I cannot afford to get a schengen visa or even travel to europe. shall i discard this or surrender back to my company?

    HK?

:confused:Hi wileiz! Jack P. here, I was under the impression that LH flew to HK. Only a stones throw from Manila, worth a check! you do not say what nationality you are, If not From a full member Country, you will have to obtain a Full Visitor Visa for one of the member Countries First, then apply for a Schengen Visa, This is an addition and is free. Hope you find this piece of a little help.

I am a filipino and don't have europe visa. I tried to look at their website and they have PR and CX flights from manila. so it's possible that they have codeshared their flight to CX and PR which was gone last year. coz before they(LH) have mnl-bkk-fra flight. I am lucky to have a privilege like this but unfortunately, I do not have foreigns friends to visit...the conditions of this is that I can bring two travel buddies who will enjoy the benefits same as mine but I will travel together with the two companions in order for them to have discount. If I can acquire schengen visa, hope someone will invite me to visit europe or any place covered by LH flights

wileiz, are you airline staff - and is your ID75 positive space or space available? Several years ago Greece was comparatively more liberal with visas for bona fide Filipino tourists than most of Europe. Don't know what the current situation is - with their economic woes it may have changed for the worse - but worth a try. It's also a very very nice place to visit. A positive space ticket would likely impress the embassy staff more than a space 'A'. But being airline staff would help a lot too...if that's the case.

Airline discounts are not always what they look like.
For instance a typical flight from Hong Kong to most European city's with Lufthansa cost 1,014 Euro
    75 % discount means 253 Euro?
    Wrong!
    The ticketprice is 679 Euro + 335 Euro tax = 1,014 Euro
    Or 25% of 679 = 170 Euro + 335 Euro tax = 504 Euro for a flight from Hong Kong
While you get a flight from Manila to Europe for 730 Euro with Etihad air.
(all prices are from the airline own websites)

am not an airline staff but I work on their repair station based here in the philippines. based on my colleagues, they paid 60euro for a round trip ticket from frankfurt to paris, 500euro roundtrip manila-oslo, so would it be possible that this privilege really gives a 75% less? Some of my colleagues already enjoyed the benefits of this, and got their visa easily because of invitations from their friends in europe...

    Sounds good to me!

 Wiliez! If you are directly employed by the company in Manila, why not approach your Human Resources dept to offer you an Invite to their HUB in Europe? This is a very Cheap and Quick way to obtain a Visa and a temporary Work Permit. Just a Thought my friend.

Absolutely..good idea Jack. If your company doesn't have enough confidence to do it - it means some before you have disappointed them...ie TNT and par for the course....But yes, that is likely your best shot. Any chance of some training in Europe?...ie Toulouse for some Airbus sessions...Their avionics scared me when I was working on them, but what do I know...
