The main problem guys I feel, is THEY do not want it and IF we came up with the suggestions we all know just what they would say For a one off, Junob has had a basketball court for over 25 years. it is on Google Junob Basketball court - Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental Then one day last year, the owner told DC that they wanted to see to Donation paperwork. of course no one could find it, so the owner told them well My father says it is OUR Land and you cant have it any more. So they Split the court to the Boundary and now 1/3 of it is a Cloths drying Area. This is the small minded attitude that Prevents progression. So now an Area that held not only games but Pagents and all sorts of Events has been deprived. the junob Float used to practice on it for Bugsalan. 20+ teams used this court for over 25 years for inter Barangay games and League games in Dumaguete. I motioned to the Captain that I would be Prepared to Donate to the Cause to Purchase the Land and was told FO we don't need your Help. I am all for helping and getting things done for the Good of all but sometimes these people are their own worst enemy. Little rant over. JP
Rumor has it a Starbuck's is going in at the Paseo Perdeces building being built on the boulevard. I hope all of you guys hate Starbuck's so the line isn't too long for me. Looking forward to a triple grande nonfat latte and a toasted Everything Bagel.
Nothing wrong in asking Roger(Broadside) to give some thought to that (he was our Local Pub Operator for years in the UK) maybe a Cooperative from members here? Just a Thought. JP
I havent been to Dumaguete yet, but will be doing so in four weeks. I am looking forward to seeing the Island. What I can see is what happens to most places when somewhere becs popular such as where as Dumaguete and Pattaya. As more tourists and expats frequent. Local come seeking their share of our dollars and it just grows like a festered sore from there. Also, I doubt whether you as an expat would want Dumaguete to beco,me like the US? left Australia for the same reasons interference in our lives, taxes, high cost of livingI We need to be careful of what we wish for, we just might get it!!!!
Mogo, most of us have, what we were looking for, we, like the Invention, are just trying to improve it, where we can and are allowed. You will see what we mean when we sit the boulevard and have that beer or two. JP
I would love a constant electrical source at the correct voltage/amperage at rates competitive with other foreign countries as we are currently the most expensive in Asia. It would mean that our electrical appliances would not die prematurely do to lower than expect electrical voltage/amperage rates. Reasonable cost so industrial type factories could be built and employ people.
Dave, to your point, transformers are needed here to keep your voltage constant. I would like to see our electric costs reduced.
It would seem the 'east/west' syndrome is alive and well in Phils also Jack. Both Phils and Thailand are crying out for development to keep pace with the world. But alas, the silly 'loyalist' defy modern progress with this selfish attitude. Australia is far too lenient in allowing foreign ownership, but there is a happy middle ground that can satisfy both sides, but it seems it is never reached.
