 Has anyone had a snake in their yard such as the one I found: black, a little over a meter in length, about as round as a lady's wrist at the belly, and a big mouth and fearless? A friend killed it with a bolo but not before the snake bit onto a big bull frog hiding in some rocks. My father-in-law thinks it may have been a Malabahi. There is an empty lot next to my house with a lot of grass and crap. Wonder if it is poisonous. Why, am I afraid of snakes. d*mn right I am. Hairy spiders too.

A pic would help to give a definite answer to what it is/was. Poisonous? That is easy enough to tell upon examining the mouth of any (dead!) snake.

Sounds venomous....and that it bit a frog, rather than grab it and coil around it...good indicator too. How is the frog? Can you post a picture of the snake as Knowdafish requested...even a dead - mangled one - would help? Just idly curious. I get the rare dugite in the yard from time to time down here.....attracted to the chickens I suppose. Just send them on their way...chicken pen is snake proof. I generally like snakes, but only handle the friendly ones...

Should be interesting also for me to learn more about types of snakes here.
We live quite remote from the "civilised' world.
I have seen on our land and around our house several types of snakes.
The biggest one (diameter like my wrist and about 1,5 meter long) was burned when our worker put the fire into a staple of wood.
The snake had no chance to escape. That's why we could found him afterwards.
Others were smaller and thinner in a mango tree.
Today I saw a very small (completely green) one in a papaya tree.
It felt down from a leave. Not yet 3 seconds later I inspected the ground under the small papaya tree but could not trace the snake anymore (I searched for 10 minutes in the recently mowed grass !).
I need to do some research on internet to find out which are poisoneous and which not.
Maybe one of our DI members is an expert in that field ?
I will look for the picture of the snake I once made.

The f'n snake was beaten, sliced, and head squished before I could even think of taking a picture, plus to be honest I was't exactly brave... I would probably get arrested for eliminating my neighbor's dinner if anyone saw a picture. I live 1/2k from the beach in Mangnao so I was shocked to see the snake in this residential area. I know Manzanita has had big ones climbing up his wall toward his upstairs master bedroom. As I told my wife, only my California white snake is allowed in our house... When the snake bit the huge bullfrog I was even more shocked. My neighbor beat the sh*t out of the snake at the same time and the frog went flying. In retrospect, I have over 50 frogs that come out when it gets dark so I can't let my dog out at night to poo, maybe I should have cheered the snake on and let him eat the d*mn frogs but maybe he would have grown to a huge one and knocked the door down to get at me. I have come the full circle, in the 60's I went through jungle survivor school in the mountains behind Subic Bay and learned how to kill and eat snakes and other delicacies and wasn't scared of snakes, even shot a Habu later on Okinawa, now scared sh_tl__s
