 Pulling your leg a little Davy but you can see where I am Coming from, They don't seem to want to change. Change means Progression, Progression means altering their way of Life. Changing their way of life means hard Work to Obtain, that is why many Marry us so they don't have to work hard for things that they would never have been able to afford. Easier to Stay as you are is in the minds of many. It is a great Shame but it is what it is.

You know, while we are here on this Subject, the one thing that I guess will never change but actually does get right up my nose, is the Please and Thank You's ( well the Total Lack in many cases) I asked my daughter (15 so no child exactly) Why do you never say Please and Thank You? She said well no one else does and anyway I don't really like them ( her 2 cousins on giving her a Xmas gift) OH! so you accept the Gift but no Thank You! Well she replied, They never said it either.
I tried to explain the 2 wrongs never make a right. HA! that's just the Foreigner in you Coming out. was as much of an Argument she could muster.

I asked if she said her P's &T's at School, Yes we have to or we get marked Down. Not a Happy young lady when I said her Allowance may just Start to get Marked down if things don't change.

"Daddy" Please don't Do That. AH! said I, different story when the boot is on the Other Foot & you want something

Thank You for reading this mornings Sermon:p

    JP:wink:

o_O Ps It can be and should be taught, Lee Plaza, Cangs and all the others Places sales and other staff are more than Polite IMHO

That one also gets to me jack, the wife's neice doesn't get anything unless this is heard, ( please or thank you) we just ignore her.

So many times when out and about we hear the words "give me money" that gets completely ignored also. If we hear a pls things are different  we can't alway blame the kids for this, sometimes it's the parents or education system which also sucks.

Thank you Jack! It goes the other way, too. That door guard who opens the door, I look him firmly in the eye and say thank you. It seems to make their day, same with calling a Filipino sir, ma'am less so. I also tip my hat to the door guards, a holdover from the days when you had to remove your hat for security reasons, the guards seem to get a kick out of that too!:D

It is a known fact, proven by the Filipino Governmental Systems, and reigning clans that when there is no rice in your bowl you do not worry about internet speed, how much your politicians are fleecing you or if the judicial system works..... "Thank you Sir, can I have more rice and can I kiss you @ss again  so i can taste more flavor on my white rice...." The system of poverty and how it works on the public and the nation as a whole in the Philippines.
Ever notice how many wild animals are here in the natural areas of the Philippines, including song birds? "It it is moves.. eat it" was one of my last Filipinos landlords favorite quotes.

Lessons learned, everyone coming here should get a Hepatitis A/B combo shot. If you are here and didn't get one, you probably should.

This lack of respect or poor upbringing does not fall solely on Filipinos. I have seen an expats kid come to a bar and pee in the pool. Twice the same kid dropped his pants and took a sh*t in the yard. The parents said "no, don't do that" but made no effort to stop the kid. This was no toddler either. Well within the age that a kid should know to use the toilet. I am scared to even think of what would have happened to me if my father had seen me even think about doing such a thing. I know it would have been the first and last time I ever thought about it.

The way children are brought up in this country is downright shameful. I would be embarrassed to take my kid out if it acted in such a way. I will never have a kid in the Philippines, they have just made it practically illegal to verbally punish your child, let alone physically punish a child. The problem is only going to get worse in the Philippines. These children, that will never see consequences for their actions, are going to grow up to be absolute monsters!

I remember seeing a guy snorkeling about 20 meters out from the boulevard wall. Absolutely disgusting. You couldn't pay me to stick my face down in that water.
