Duterte willing to run for president 'to save the republic' | ABS-CBN News

So looks like he will give it a go, I have also noticed where ever he goes he has a large following.
He is hard headed and some of his ways will have to be amended some what but personally I think it needs the heavy hand to sort out the huge corruption problem.

I've never heard of any politician ever going to jail when they get caught for any length of time, they usually end up in some hospital with some serious ailment!
He couldn't be any worse than anything there has been in office over the last 50 yrs.

 

No, he is part of a political clan that was elected to office. Duterte will only win one election. Marshal law will be put in place (to fight the terrorists and drug lords) and elections put on hold indefinitely because "only he can be trusted to not be corrupt in dealing with these problems". Any political opposition will be met with assassinations and death squads. He is a very dangerous man.

 

Duterte for President?

I personally don't think it would be a good idea for him to be president. His city might be clean and smoke free but he holds some pretty extreme views on how to govern.

He seems to (or did at one time) support vigilante death squads. His ideas might sound good in theory but it doesn't take much of an imagination to see how these methods could get way out of hand.

I don't think it would be anything for this man to turn his head the other way when his political opponents end up finding themselves assassinated.
