When is the best time to see a Mimic and Blue-ringed octopus? Is it always by chance? Which dive site/s? Thanks.

I could not make out any time-pattern, I saw them morning and afternoon. However, I never saw them when specifically searching for and really only by luck. I had luck at the sandy slope at the corner of Mikes Beach Resort towards south, also close to the car-wrecks and the sandy slope between Dauin poblacion and car-wrecks. Could not say it was in any way regularly, and many dives for 1 mimic.

Yeah, didn't have much luck there and in Zamboanguita. A lot of octopus but none of them a mimic or blue-ringed. Although, in Malapascua, every other diver we spoke to said they saw a blue-ringed and/or a mimic. Perhaps, if I stopped looking I will come across one

    Thanks, Rhoody.

Looks like Moalboal is the place for blue-ringed. But they are in more shallow than You could think, mostly in tide pools
