Ok, let's all bury our swords because I think all of us ex-pats need to try to help each other.

I am sorry I posted so harshly to you. I need to better control my temper and response.

I think the situation with ems and couriers is emerging clearly.

When only documents are involved there is nothing for them to charge duties on, nor is there much of an incentive to try to SWAG some foreigner (stealing without a gun).

The couriers, they understand are used by people who have money and can afford their fees, often foreigners, so maybe that's one reason they get more customs attention. Also, they are more frequently having packages containing something valuable.

I like the Phil., especially the people, but I resent the government and bureaucratic intrusion here. It's the same in the USA. Governments have gotten way out of control, and we as the people need to reign them in any way possible.

I am in the final stages of checking which method I will use. DHL sounds attractive, but as I said I once had a package sent to me in the USA from them and it arrived very late and opened, so I am reluctant to use them again.

fedex has always been reliable, but they are expensive and in the USA they drop packages at your door even if you live in an apt. complex, not a responsible thing to do, imo.

If I go EMS I need a postal address here which I do not have yet, so that is an extra requirement.

Registered mail has, in my experience been reliable, but usually took 2-3 weeks for delivery.
Supposedly it is kept in a safe and each time it changes hands someone must sign for it and take responsibility.

I have noticed that foreigners here in general on the internet forums have short fuses. We need to try harder to stop that for the benefit of all.
