I think it is just because certain people are coming up with anything that will get attention from superiors. We've had tyre baths as normally used in livestock disease control, spraying motorcyclists and perhaps also pedestrians with disinfectant .... so have to think of something new to keep the wheel spinning.

Got another one from the wife that was on her media contacts. They were using a banana leaf. As I say, it isn't more fun in the Philippines, You have to see it to believe it.-

Just looking at this product, sold in lazada for 700php, it seems that the fluid dynamics would cause breath of the rider to flow around the barrier and hit the back rider in the face.

They were careful to specify that the shields were between husband and wife or GF living in the same house (and that is what makes everyone question it so much). I don’t think habal habal backriding is even allowed because the passenger is not wife or GF. However, rules keep getting updated and I am not sure now if non-spouse/GF back riders are allowed (with shield).
Whomever came up with this failed to understand the Bernoulli principle that the wind speed decreases the static pressure on the rider which in effect places the airborne virii or droplets breathed out by the driver right smack into the face of the rider. It is kind of basic science and somebody should be rather embarrassed, as if they themselves failed to attend high school science class.

I wish I had a peso for every stupid law and one for every law not enforced here in the Philippines... In DGT it is illegal to drive while wearing flip flops or a shirt without sleeves....

Show them the shields on your helmets, tell them a 3rd won't make a difference. I know, I know, I am as frustrated as everyone else.
