Better idea is to have another theater open in Dumaguete. Get SM or Ayala in their with a 4 screen theater (5 would be nice thou hehe). But one can only wish so much.
There was 2 theaters a couple years ago. The local economy cannot handle more than one really. I went to Robinsons Wednesday and the place was empty. Most screenings are far from full. Btw: that movie Gravity is a bore. I wouldn't recommend to anyone.
Happens when only crap movies are out or the movies have been out for 2+ weeks. Most will see a new movie within 3-5 days if they plan to. Plus so many movies come out and in Rob with 3 screens and 1 at least always filipino. Having more diversity and different theaters offering a different selection would help also.
I agree. We usually see 3-6 movies per month at Robs. We only go on Mon-Thursday, early showings, because the theaters are basically empty. On the weekends they are often packed, and not enjoyable. Often good movies never make it to the Dumaguete theater, another cinaplex would likely help in terms of variety. We used to attend the other theaters (3) of Dumaguete's past (Park, Ever, and Ultravision). All were absolute dumps, with broken down seats and filthy CRs. I'm surprised they stayed open as long as they did. Larry
I am wondering where the poor Filipinos that frequented the cinemas that "Shadow" mentioned are going now, I don't think they would attempt to get into Robinsons because of "shyness" and lack of funds... Actually, I think I know the answer, they are at home and watch "40 Movies on a DVD" on their TVs, nowadays you can have everything on installment anyway...
There is no such thing as Filipino etiquette. On the road or anywhere else. they come in at anytime during the move, talk and chat on where to sit. turn on their cellphones, chat, text, what ever. I saw a foreigner complain once about the people chatting out loud behind him to the manager which turned into an all out scream fest which carried out after the movie ended which the Filipino told the foreigner it was THEIR country and he didn't belong here. But remember "Its more fun in the Philippines"
good on who ever the foreigner was, if more complain the manager might do something, I gave him a 2 pages of complaints from foreigners
It is a law here that cell phones must not be used inside of the theatre, but who can enforce it??? The Manager just turn off the movie and I am sure the culprits will soon pull their heads in.
Whdn i vet hit by that bullshit i tell them the land was here long before us and will be here long after we are gone. So we are all just visitors regardless of where we happen to be born. It doesnt belong to anyone more than anyone else.
I like that one also a good reply is, tell all your relatives to get out of my country and stop taking our jobs
