My wifes family is form Dumaguete and we are moving to the area next year. I spent some time there last year and really like the town. I went to Valencia and like the cooler weather there. Are ther any other areas near to dumaguete that also have an elevated altitude to provide a slightly cooler climate than Dumaguete proper? What about Pamploma? Thanks!

Most all surrounding municipalities have areas with higher elevation. Dauin, Sibulan, etc., all may meet your needs. You may find Pamplona a bit far out for your liking, but then again maybe not.

To build on Larry's point, my new home is only 1/2 k west of the highway up a gentle slope, yet the breeze and temperature is so much more pleasant than my current home in Dgte 1/2 k from the beach at almost sea level elevation.

Are there already homes up in thes higher elevations or do you have to build yourself? What about rentals in coller areas?

    Valencia!

 Plenty of lots to buy in Valencia to build on, check the real estate webs for rentals, plenty of those too. I am not sure what the others will say but I find the area good for me, although My Wife thinks it is a little to cold sometimes BUT she is a local. I think over the next Couple of days you will have the answers you look for.

Valencia is good. Serene place and really cold most of the time especially at night. Utility expenses like water and electricity are also cheap because I think you will get refunds. There are houses and lots for sale there. In San Jose and Sibulan, you can also find good areas for you to settle in your preferences.
